Went to Museum Terrace for an in person tour and there's no words to describe how rude this agent named Bruce was to me. I went there on a Saturday to find out how was the access to the apartments by stairs since I don't use electricity due to the Shabbat, day of rest for Jewish people. He refused to facilitate this request for me simply and rudely saying "I won't climb the building for you just because you can't take the elevator. You have to come another day or don't come at all." The security guard who was there at that time can testify this. I was appalled on how rude and unwelcome a person can be especially during this time of COVID that they would care about reviews and trying to fill out the vacant units they have. The good thing is that I learned in time from this bad experience and found a much better deal in another building close by where they treat people respectfully. I left Museum Terrace just wondering if this loser was in a bad mood or simply hate Jews.

It used to be a good building but it has not been since late last year when they started tearing the whole place up. We have lost all our amenities including pool, lobby, mail room, gym, elevator, guest parking, security entry, road access, not to mention peace and quiet. IT is always loud with construction, and there are piles of debris, because they have yet to complete any of the renovations. They are also upgrading any units that are vacated, and that is very loud. There are huge rent increases. On top all that, there is a giant 20 story mega complex being built next door that will block our view when construction of 2 years finally ends. The noise and road blocks from that project make our building loud and uncomfortable. Complaints are not addressed.

This is the worst place ever. The only good thing is that Beatrice and the on site management staff trying to keep this place together. We don't have a lobby any more, it has been under construction since early November. We are being told that construction will continue till July. The thing is that nobody is constructing anything. The place has been ripped apart but nothing is happening. In the meantime tenants need to enter and exit through the garage. There is literally no security. YES, there are security guys at the entrance of the garage but they are in their cellphone at all times and they don't care who gets in and out. Packages that are left by amazon are disappearing from the hallways. The front elevator has not been working since November. They demolished the gym but never put it back together again. You can't even get to P2 (second floor) where the gym was any longer. It's closed off. They ripped out the hallway tiles on the sixth floor over a month ago but apparently stopped working. So now there is just the subfloor, looks like the work was stopped. About a month ago the pool area ant the hot tub are was closed off fir no apparent reason and no one at management can give you an answer when they will reopen it. Mind you, that after they closed it for over six month in the summer. This place sucks and we are moving out. Worst place ever after we caked it gone for over three years. Do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else.

My roommate and I love it here. Perfect location and amenities. Our unit is slightly outdated (cupboards etc) no large complaints. I haven't experienced any of the things former residents have described in their reviews. Bruce was very helpful with our move in and so far - no issues with the manager.

Museum Terrace left us homeless: My partner and I were in the process of relocating from RI for a 6/7 move date. We looked at MT while we here in LA in April. We met with Bruce, the leasing agent who was seeming super helpful when wanting to get us to take the apartment and send deposit money. We went through all of the process, sent money, got renters insurance, changed address. scheduled movers, changed credit card and banking information, scheduled appointments for utility information, changed address information with employers etc. Everything involved in the time and effort to manage a cross country move. One week prior to when our moving truck was supposed to arrive in RI, I received a call from Bruce to say "Oh sorry, the woman who currently lives in your unit decided that she wanted to stay another month so we can't accommodate you until 7/5. They claimed that they had NO other units to put us in and they were not going to help absorb any costs associated with the storage of our things etc. They basically said "sorry" but that was the extent of it. They did finally provide us with our deposit refund after 2 weeks but they refused to return our "non refundable" application fee of $88 despite the fact that they dropped the ball and couldn't provide us with the apartment that we agreed on. The manager was even less empathetic to the situation. My email to the manager and her response: I am writing in regard to the unfortunate mishap that has occurred with the renting of apartment 640 of your Museum Terrace property. As you know, we have been working with Bruce on the leasing of this unit since 4/19/13 for a 6/7/13 move in date. We did everything that was asked of us in a timely manner. From filling out and faxing a variety of forms, sending deposits, getting renter's insurance etc, all for an apartment that in theory we didn't even get to look at. We were pleased to have a place lined up for our cross country move from RI and have a place ready to call home. You can imagine the frustration and disappointment we are feeling now that we've come to learn that the current tenant has decided and allowed to remain in the unit until 7/5/13. It's not clear to us how this could have even happened. Why is it that when the current tenant requested to stay long after our approvals were in, deposits were cashed, that she couldn't have been turned away? Why is it that you would be so accommodating to a tenant that is going out the door as opposed to a new one? As mentioned to Bruce,we cannot find temporary housing and will need to look elsewhere. In light of everything, the expectation is that you will be refunding us our $200 deposit in addition to the $88.00 in application fees. Although the applications fees are "non refundable" I think that the very least you could do is give this back to us as we will now have to fill out other applications for a different property. I think this is a reasonable request given the magnitude of this inconvenience. Your company hasn't made a single effort to try to help us out with this situation that could have been avoided. We are essentially homeless at this point and had to undo three weeks worth of work. We had already made address changes with our employers, banks, credit card companies, obtained rental insurance, ordered utilities, changed our address with the post office, ordered cable/Internet services, and all of that had to be undone and will have to be redone. I would like this deposit to be processed by 6/1. I can come to your office and pick up the $288 check. I look forward to hearing from you. ---------------------- Her response: I understand the situation you have been put in, this is never our intention but this type of situation sometimes happens. Please refer to your deposit agreement section #5. We will refund the $200.00 holding deposit since you will be unable to move in due to the resident not moving out. Unfortunately we are unable to refund the $88.00 app fee. it is a non-refundable fee for processing your application. The same afternoon that we told them that we didn't want to live there, our apartment and a higher end available apartment showed up listed online, so basically they did have another until free, but they didn't want to give it to us because it was a few hundred dollars more per month. Bottom line - I wouldn't plan on moving here unless your move in date can be flexible. I feel like we dodged a bullet though. If this is the way they conduct business BEFORE you move in, I can only imagine it must be even worse once you're actually moved in!

I have lived here for almost two years and I am very happy. I have one of the less remodeled apartments which are available for less expensive rent, which I need after splitting with my ex. Although some of it is a bit out of date, I have had no problems with quality. The maintenance staff are all wonderfully capable and very friendly. The security are overall very friendly. As a single female these things are important to me. If I needed help I feel it would be there. The management office has fully turned around since I moved in. Both sets were friendly enough, although I happily haven't had an problems big enough to really need them. Joshua, who was one of the people that worked here when I was looking for a place and first moved in, was really down to earth and helpful. Yes, there are elevator issues (which I saw repeatedly in other reviews) but the stair cases are the cleanest and are better lit than I have ever seen. The people who live here are very friendly. I have not had any trouble with noise. Once in a while somebody doesn't clean up after him/herself or the dog, but our maintenance are so on top of things that it doesn't last long. I have lived in 5 other places in the area and this is by far the best. I will stay here until I have the finances to purchase (I have a feeling it will be a while). My only complaint is guest parking in extremely limited and so is street parking.

I've been living in this building for 5 months now and I'm thoroughly impressed. Management is always reachable and responds to my emails and calls right away. We needed someone to fix something we got stuck in our sink and they came the next morning to fix the issue. The security guys that work here are also very friendly. I unfortunately had to make a noise complaint one night and they took care of it ASAP. Every tenant in this building I've ran into is always courteous and welcoming. The heated pool and spa is great. Parking - great. Only flaw is one of the 3 elevators seems to be down every now and then. Not a big deal for me though.

Cliff Note Version: Decent apartment, great location, reasonable price. Many ongoing maintenance issues. The one star rating reflects the property owner withholding our entire security deposit. (it was later returned after documentation and threat of legal action were sent) Had I written this review within my first three months of living at Museum Terrace it would have been four or five stars. The apartment building was well maintained, in a great location, with good amenities, and at a reasonable price. My satisfaction dropped considerably over time as there continued to be repeated issues with common area maintenance, noise, rent collection/allocation. The elevators were continuously in and out of service. We had multiple days without hot water due to recurring boiler issues. The common area landscaping was redone (which looked really nice) but for about two weeks the smell of fertilizer hung in the air and in our apartment. The odor was so pungent that it would make us literally gag when we walked outside of our unit. That said, I would have still given Museum Terrace 3 stars upon moving out of the apartment. Two weeks after moving out my roommate and I received our closing statement. Museum Terrace Apartments indicated they were being kind enough to credit us $15 so we would not have to pay beyond our security deposit for additional damages. What?! They were withholding our entire security deposit to repaint the unit (we had no holes in the walls and had not done any painting) and to recarpet 750 sq ft (our unit was only 980 sq ft and there was only carpet in the two bedrooms). Clearly this must be an error as it did not match how we left the unit nor did the specifications (carpet size) match the unit we occupied. As we tried to communicate with the onsite manager she was of no help. She referred us to the corporate office and said that it may be up to 45 days before we receive a response. The corporate office was equally unhelpful. Only after providing a document with photographs of our unit when we vacated and threatening a suit in small claims court did we receive a refund of 80% of our security deposit. (only cleaning fees and last month s water/trash were removed). I would never recommend a friend renting from any G&K apartment. The business practices by the corporate owner GKind are unfair.

If you like smoke coming into your apartment all the time, constant dust, constant construction (starting at 7 am), no amenities, but like to pay for them, no compensation for living in a construction zone, crappy design, crappy construction and walking in and out through the garage and the smell of a porta potty - then this place is for you. It's honestly a very poor building managed by a really crappy company (Goldrich Kest) but you get to pay A LOT of money that they raise EVERY YEAR.
