The management recently changed and they are not very nice and not attentive. They are horrible to get back to you about any questions and don't really care if you decide to move out or not. I would want them at least to show some type professionalism by getting back to me. The overall place is nice and quiet. I would recommend this place if you're rarely home

I just moved in this beautiful loft couple weeks ago. and I am really happy with this place. Although I am on second floor, with the door closed, you can hardly hear any noise from the street. Good people from the management office including the security guards and maintaness ppl. If you like the urban living, this is the right place you want to move in. parking is just right next to the building plus this is the historical building in Downtown LA.

We have lived here since May 2005 and the building overall is very nice with reasonable rent. Noise can be an issue because of the historical windows so stay away from units facing the street but if you live in downtown you have to deal with the constant traffic and sirens. When we first moved in the surrounding area was a bit scary but it's been improving... slowly. Maintenance people are quick and very nice.

I moved in a little over a month ago and absolutely love it here. The apartments are beautiful, have historic charm, and reasonably priced, I love the polished concrete! The walls here are solid I love not ever hearing my neighbors, and I can play music and have a party without any issue. I dont know what all the reviews are saying about noise, of course there is a bit of noise you live in DOWNTOWN not the suburbs! Management is great I haven't had any issues. Parking lot is right behind building which is convenient, they keep the door locked some sometimes you have to walk all the way around in the morning. The area isnt bad at all despite what people say. I regularly walk around during the day and the evening to Petes, Banquette, and Old Bank DVD which are right around the corner with no problem. Also Pitfire pizza is a short walk away.

we have lived in this building for just over a year and are looking for a way out. from security looking at porn in the buisness center, stabbings in the hall way, all night parties, peeling paint, roaches, endless fire alarms at all hours, elevators not working for days on end, memos for repairs/upgrades that happen 3 months later, cabinates falling from walls, dog poo in the lobby, no roof access, can i list anything else? it looks good in the begining but after a few weeks you really start wishing you would have picked that other place. don't let the price fool you. the staff is horrible... except for allan the security man. he is the only great thing about this place always smiling, curtious, and willing to help or chat.

Many of the previous reviewers seem to be exaggerating big time. Yes, it can be noisy living DOWNTOWN...that's obvious. The complainers should have chose another place to live in the first place. The building is very nice, and has had some problems since it's a newly renovated building. My experience with management has been top notch. They are ALWAYS nice and responsive. Everyone who works here is friendly and helpful. The reviewers who say the employees/ managers are mean and unresponsive must have mental issues. I've asked for help with a couple repair issues, and they were taken care of promptly. When we moved in over a year ago, the surrounding area was questionable, but it has improved many times over. Management has no control over who is walking the streets, but LAPD has moved most of the homeless and oddballs away. I definitely recommend living here, but you just have to keep in mind this is DOWNTOWN, and it's noisy at most locations here.

Look...this is the honest truth about the lofts at the security building: Is it perfect? No, BUT things continue to get better around here. When problems arise, the manager addresses them. Now, I have talked to some of you have posted these negative comments and you have confesed to me that you have done so because you have nothing else better to do. Get a life! If you want to express your thoughts about this building...BE HONEST! Calling the manager and the staff names is so not called for! YOU HAD A CHOICE TO LIVE HERE OR NOT! NO ONE PUT A GUN TO YOUR HEAD! You know that's is the problem with sites like this. If the management did not care about our concerns, then why did they send out a survey to see how they were doing and in what areas they could improve? I think that means that they take this business very seriously. Think before you write! If you are reading these reviews be very careful about basing your choice based on what these people are writing. Make your own choice because some of these people have thier own motives for writing mean statements.

I lived here from January - November 2006. I am neutral when it comes to recommending it but I want to lean closer to NO if I have to pick one. PROS: -convenient to work if you work in Downtown LA -close to bus and subway stops -clean cozy units -decent fitness center -laundry room on each floor -decent community lounge room -cool neighbors -nice security (allan) -helpful maintenance staff (george) CONS: -bums outside masturbating and taking dumps on the sidewalk -poor management* -section 8 in some units -parking structure is behind the building across the dark dirty alley so you have to pass by bum poop, syringes, used condoms, and used tampons. -closest supermarket is 5 miles away (they are building a new ralphs on 8th though) -no receipts from management -cheap fixtures that broke multiple times -cheap walls that would crumble if you wanted to put a tack to hang a frame -wifi doesnt work half the time -film crews always filming commercials and tv shows in units on my floor, blocking the hallways -one ------ neighbor who tried to run me down in her car when i politely asked her to back up so i can pull out of my spot *they were okay until we decided not to renew the lease then they did not want to give us our deposit. they finally did 3 months after we moved out despite the fact that california has a 21-day law on deposit returns. they only gave me $260 of my $400 deposit back citing that they had to charge me for cleaning the unit, even though my wife and i spent our last two days making the unit spotless and cleaner than it was before we moved in. gwen, the manager even did a walk through and told us that it was super clean and we would get a full deposit back. when i tried to complain to the corporate office (simpson management) no one would return my calls and i ended up giving up because i was already stressed out at work. the management would also just fire the security and maintenance staff if they didnt like them personally, even if the staff were cool with all the tenants and we felt they were doing a great job. so it kind of sucked having rotating guards until allan came.

This place is the worst place to live! The building itself is not horrible, but the surroundings and atmosphere are awful! The windows in the aprtment are so thin that it sound as if you are living right on the street.

There is wonderful building across the street that has police visits hourly and even better 3 bodies have been removed from the building in the 4 short months I have lived here. There is constent noise 24/7 from inside the bulding, loud fights in the hall, to the homeless population outside. There are also many movie productions going on all night long. I have watched movie company's unloading poles, by throwing them off the truck at 4:00 in the morning. They have no respect for anyone who actually lives down here. Almost everyone in the building are rude, I guess they don't enjoy where they are living either? Just dont move here, PLEASE!

the lofts at the security building is like a scary movie. when viewing the lofts everthing seems Pleasant as in "Pleasantville", to good to be true... just like the devils advocate they are sweet, warm heart, and put up a good front, showing you a dream world filled with Amenities: Oversized windows that do not open, 10ft plus ceilings and fantastic views of skid row, Fitness center that smells of death, Entertainment room filled with the scum of the earth, A Business center without a fax, oh and Free wireless internet that never works.. Once you sign your lease, you have sold your soul to the ----- aka the "manager".
