Fair priced studio apartment in a central location and the maintenance team was a blessing. I cannot speak for their other apartment offerings aside from the studio, here are a few things you should keep in mind before moving into a studio at Sakura Crossing Air Circulation - there is only one window in the apartment and the stove top vents do not work well. Up until we purchased a large floor fan for the apartment, every time we cooked fatty meat we would nearly trigger the smoke detector. I assume this was a struggle with other rooms too because for a few months at the beginning of 2021, fire alarms went off almost every week. Noise - the apartment is next to the police station and the fire department so be prepared for noise even with windows closed. Walls seemed to be pretty thing as well considering we could hear our neighbors argue. Impractical cabinets - we are not sure who 'designed' these doors cause the highlighted cabinets are not only too thin to use, but they are also too deep (you are bound to knock something over and have trouble reaching it). But I guess that doesn't really matter since those doors cannot even be opened completely since the other cabinet doors/fridge door/oven door are in the way. The same can be said about a few bathroom cabinet doors too. Floor panels - they will slide all over the place and leave cosmetic gaps. Don't worry about it because they know its a common problem. Elevator- broke down a few times in the last month, at one point 2 out of 3 elevators were broken at the same time. They didn't even bother sending out an email about it. Front Desk - When I reached out to the front desk about a package delivered after I've moved out, this is what they said "Sorry to hear about your missing package, your luxer account was deactivated when you moved out but will keep an eye out for it in case if I see anything. You may also reach out to the carrier in case they delivered it at a wrong address which is the case sometimes. We have had neighbouring communities packages delivered here at Sakura so such could happen to our community too." So apparently, it's a common thing to get your package delivered elsewhere even though I've never had that problem the entire year. Becky at the front desk consistently referred to my partner (same age as me) as my mom :')

I honestly wouldn't recommend living at this overpriced apartment to any of my family or friends. Below is pros and cons of this place I observed from the past year living here. Pros 1. Safe Security: They provide decent security at front door, garage, elevator. 2. Good Location In the heart of Lil Tokyo, one of the best neighborhoods in the city. 3. You get your own washer/dryer and full kitchen: Yes, you get basic necessities here. 4. Fixers do a good job fixing broken things in apartment. Appreciated their timeliness. Cons 1. TOO EXPENSIVE FOR SMALL SPACE $1850-$3000 monthly for studio, 1, or 2 bedroom. That's right, studios can start at $1850..... $60-120 monthly for utilities monthly Then random hidden costs thrown at you at the end. Way, way too expensive for the tiny space. 2. OFFICE MANAGEMENT FAKE / APATHETIC / AND WONT HELP YOU , BEWARE I've caught them with their fake customer service and despite reaching out multiple times to multiple people in the office, result is same - they don't care about you. FAKE with their much rehearsed customer service speech pat down. When facing apartment conflict/disagreement, they don't have good communication and don't even try to help further to provide options. NO apologies when their management teammate makes mistakes on their end. No accountability at all. (AVOID rude woman with damaged blonde hair, she eye rolls and is curt). Miss the old apartment manager, Brian, that left, only 1 person that was genuinely nice and listened/cared. Beware of Lani and Alanna. 3. HIDDEN MOVING OUT COSTS THEY DON'T DISCLOSE DURING MOVE IN We cleaned ours perfectly to avoid estimated move out costs, to a point even our friends and family can't even believe we still got charged from our photos. When showed images to management of our clean apartment, their excuse was our apartment wasn't professionally cleaned with a receipt and crudely said it was in the contract. When then contesting that no one in office told us to do this despite reaching out to office multiple times for clarification on move out options weeks prior, management refused to budge and acted as if we were liars. No apology from any of them. Shame on them for their disgusting ego. You will lose at least $300 for moving out. 4. ANNOYING FIRE ALARMS It's dreadful waking up to them when napping/sleeping 5. FRONT DESK IS NEVER THERE Both during day and night, g'luck getting your packages they're always out and about elsewhere with no warning or be back signs, many times I had to come back later to find someone 6. THIN WALLS Bad Luck if you have loud neighbors and sirens that pass your side all the time - At night, we always were hearing people scream at TV or people upstairs making large banging noises. 7. APARTMENT ONLY SOMEWHAT CLEAN Generally clean. But due to lots of pets, there is dog poop all the time in hallways/gardens. Literally had one dog poo in front of my door one day. Watch your step.. 8. DID NOT LIKE AMENITIES, NOT LUXURY Sweaty and outdated machines in gym, didn't want to go in pool seemed to have lots of kids in all the time 9. NO GUEST PARKING Be prepared to have quarters for your friends' street parking.... . You have to pay for additional parking if you and partner have two cars... 10. HORRIBLE CHEMICAL SMELLS WHEN CLEANING CARPET t's humid and wet and gross smelling 11. HAD TO REQUEST FIXES THROUGHOUT YEAR FOR APARTMENT At least for our apartment, annoyed we had to request pipe being clogged (When we first moved in, can't believe no one bothered to check before we moved in) water temperature not being right at first, things breaking randomly through the year due to usage from previous tenants... We moved in only due to working reasons. Very happily returned to old apartment after lease ended. While there were times of peace, overall stress/distracting/and untrusting of this place. I do not plan on returning. Overall, this apartment isn't as luxurious as it is marketed. Can absolutely find a better home. Don't trust customer service/management/office people. They tell you whatever to get you to move in but not disclose everything in advance. They ARE FAKE.

Sakura Crossings Property Management during my lease: Related Property Mgmt Disliked living at Sakura Crossing from start to finish. It's noisy, gym floor is dusty/dirty with hair balls on the floor, dog crap outside, cheap materials (door handles, thin walls, thin doors, cheap laminate, cheap low quality carpets). Fire alarms went off about 3-4 times a month and many of them occurred in the middle of the night. So on average, fire alarms went off about once a week. The worst part, however, was at the end of my lease. They re-rented our apartment unit without telling me. The way I found out was when I called to re-extend to a monthly basis. When I called to re-extend, that's when the leasing agent said it was impossible because they re-rented the unit already. The strange thing is, no potential tenants had come to see the apartment. So how did they lease it without showing it? My lease was expiring in 6 weeks and that was the first time hearing about my unit being re-rented! When were they going to tell me that my apartment was already rented out? I even have in writing (via emails) that the reason they rented out my apartment so quickly was because they wanted to act fast before the winter season since the holidays are the most difficult time for leasing. So essentially, I got kicked out of my home without proper advance notification so they could achieve leasing goals. Other tenants had told me Related did this to them too. But the tenant decided to take another unit in the building to avoid expensive moving costs. This tenant had also mentioned that he heard there were others as well but they decided to just leave the building. On move-out day, the closest service elevator had already been broken for 7.5 weeks. When it was time to move out, the next closest service elevator was about 240 feet away. Consequently, the movers (who are paid by the hour) had to walk about 450 feet from our unit to the truck downstairs. Note: the length of a football field is 360 feet...I wound up paying DOUBLE the max moving estimate due to a service elevator that was down for almost two months by that point. The pessimistic side of me says that Related intentionally did not want to fix the elevator since they knew they were selling the building to a new owner and just wanted to push off the problem. I hated my time at Sakura Crossing from the beginning. But I was really screwed on my way out. The only good part about the building is Mike the security guard. He takes his job seriously to protect and look out for the residents. He deserves a promotion. The next good thing is the location. Little Tokyo is an ideal urban neighborhood with late-night restaurants, coffee shops and even clothing stores. Bottom Line: Don't live here. Related treats you like crap. This has left a bad taste in my mouth for all Related Managed buildings. They sucked me financially dry and treated me like garbage. They didn't care that these places are "homes" and not just income-generating assets.

Is there a rating for ZERO stars? I've been living here for 2 years now and while the location is great, the management and their policies are ridiculous. Every year they increase the rent to a level that is unreasonable. After the first year, we decided to deal with it since moving was such a hassle for us, but now that we're nearing the end of our second lease, we decided to purchase a home. As you can imagine, the escrow process takes a long time and Sakura was NOT willing to let us go on a month to month lease (even after I agreed to the "regular" monthly lease price). Not very accommodating at all. Apparently it's against their policy go to month to month...the minimum is a 6 month lease. My situation is very unfortunate, so for any of you who want more a little more flexibility once your lease ends, Sakura Crossing is NOT the place to be. To make matters worse, this complex uses the bait and switch method to attract their customers. I went online to look at the going rate for my exact unit and it was listed at $250 BELOW what I was paying. OK, I guess when I signed my lease previously, the market was different. So I asked the leasing office if they could show me which unit was the cheaper one. They had a dumb look on their face and said that it's no longer available. It seemed a little bit fishy so I pushed her a little more and asked her which unit it WAS. Still the dumb look on her face. At that point it became very apparent that the cheaper unit DOESN'T exist. Hmmmm.... Out of fairness here's a list of pros and cons: PROS - location is great and is close to plenty of good restaurants - facilities are decent, but they CHARGE you to use the club house (not just a deposit, but they charge you) - neighbors seem to be pretty cool (except for the USC students who are partying all night) CONS - Management's ridiculous policies - DO NOT consider living here if you plan on staying for more than 1 year because they'll hike up the rent by $200-$300 more each year - the fire alarm issue was REALLY annoying. At least 2-3 times a month, the fire alarm will sound between midnight and 5am. Very annoying. - Parking sucks: if you plan on going out on a Friday night, you might not come with to a parking spot. I had to park a few blocks down the street and walk back to Sakura - Floors and walls are VERY thin! Let's hope your neighbors don't walk with a heavy step - They CHARGE you to use the clubhouse...even after collecting all that rent - Bait and switch tactics - Disrespectful management (or at least the ones I've dealt with) If you have any other specific questions, please post us here and I would love to answer them for you.
