WEST LAKE 127-129 SECOND AVENUE LLC · avg 2.3 ★★★★★ · New York City
“Unit 18 Pros: The apartment itself had updated appliances, and was clean. Cons: Management was extremely unresponsive, apartments are TINY, stairwell is not cleaned, radiators make banging sounds.”
— 129 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Location, location, location! Cons: Dirty, issues with heat during winter, property owner is super non responsive”
— 127 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Large units for the price Cons: Dirty stair well and trash area Advice to landlord: Clean up”
— 131 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Unit 1 Pros: The location of this building is amazing. Close to everything you would want to be close to. Cons: Maintenance is horrible. Response time is abysmal. Had broken outlets in my room for 2.5 years and no one every came to fix it. Advice to landlord: DO BETTER”
“Unit 7 Pros: The location, the people Cons: The lack of heat in the winter, sometimes for weeks at a time. The flooding of the stairwell, water damage and hoards of rats. The fact that the building management mocks you while you beg for heat. The fact that living hear has been dehumanizing and financially destructive. People all wrongfully deflect the blame onto Martin the super (I should know, was doing it myself) when in fact Martin likely isn't given ANY means of fixing things by management and left to just wing it. THE ISSUE IS THE HALEGUA FAMILY. Don’t let their confusing web of LLC’s and property managers that nobody has ever met before lead you don’t the wrong trail. JOSH HALEGUA. NATHAN HALEGUA. Old money making their wealth by treating humans like garbage with no rights. Advice to landlord: Find another career”
— 131 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Unit 1 Pros: 3 bedroom with separate living room and kitchen and equal sized bedrooms Cons: Literally everything else. Went days without working heat or hot water, or any sufficient response from building management, multiple winters in a row. Gross mismanagement of a recurring flooding issue on higher floors. High rent increases over multiple lease cycles. Would only recommend this building to my enemies. Advice to landlord: Get out of property management, you're terrible at this and inhumane.”
— 131 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Good neighbors, no pest issues, fine renovations when I moved in Cons: No heat for 1.5 weeks in winter of 2022 with zero response from management, in fact my parents had to go to their office in Great Neck just to speak to someone, who then hid from them so they wouldn't have to face them. Advice to landlord: Care maybe just a little bit about your tenants”
— 127 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Unit 2 Pros: Location is great Cons: Rodents In unit Advice to landlord: Remove trash from hallway”
— 127 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Good kitchen and light and nearby to everything. Surprisingly spacious. Cons: Unresponsive super, horrible trash out front, construction constantly inside, stairs not cleaned in YEARS, constant leaks, heat barely ever turns on, pipes small so clog constantly, NYU student neighbors do not take care of the place Advice to landlord: Literally do the bare minimum”
— 131 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Convenient location, pretty much nothing else Cons: Roaches. Poor ventilation, smells from the restaurants on 2nd Ave if your unit faces a street vent. Very little natural light. The super is unresponsive. It's really dirty everywhere (in the units and the halls) The heat is either way too hot or doesn't work. Advice to landlord: Do something about the roaches and the heat.”
— 131 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: THE ONLY PRO IS LOCATION! Cons: RATS AND MICE JUMPING OUT OF TRASH! TRASH PILES UP INSIDE BUILDING IF YOU LIVE ON FIRST FLOOR APARTMENT YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO LEAVE WITHOUT A PILE UP IN THE WAY. SMELLS AWFUL. NO SUNLIGHT. MANAGEMENT IS TERRIBLE. THEY DONT RESPOND AND DONT CARE. Advice to landlord: Answer your phone when people paying you money call!”
— 129 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Not a terrible price for the location Cons: We went without heat and hot water for a week and received no rent concessions. There are rats everywhere. The super and management are unresponsive. The building always smells and it is super loud (due to location). Advice to landlord: Get out of real estate”
— 131 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Pretty apartment that’s about it Cons: HAVENT HAD HEAT OR WATER FOR A WEEK AND THEY HAVENT DONE SHIT Advice to landlord: GET UR SHIT TOGETHER”
— 131 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Not much. Old brick walls were nice and that’s about it. Cons: Apartment #2 has two windows that get covered with trash due to the alley way/trash being right behind this apartment. Rats and mice infest this area and in turn infest the apartment. There is no sunlight in the back apartments. It’s like living in a prison The building doesn’t respond and doesn’t care. The trash/Mail builds up and you can barely go through the hallway. I have a son and everyday I had to move trash/boxes in order to push my stroller out. There’s so many things to say about this building. I left for two days and our sons bed was filled with mice poop. Bugs don’t die they spread. Advice to landlord: Fire yourself”
— 129 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: I like the location the most, our room has a fire escape which is nice (even though it seems creaky and possibly dangerous to go on). For the East Village, not bad and due to price a lot of what is occurring is expected. Cons: Our specific apartment gets little to no light but other apartments seem to get more, that’s probably why ours is cheaper. The hallways are genuinely gross, but once you get in the apartment its much better. I wish someone cleaned more frequently or at least mopped the stairs. Advice to landlord: Cleanliness is key. Perhaps lighting as well.”
— 131 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: You can’t beat the location: it is in a great area with lots to do. Cons: The hallway can sometimes smell from the garbage that is in the hallway. Advice to landlord: The garbage can get overwhelming at times in the hall and outside so disposing more frequently would be ideal.”
