“Pros: - Rent stabilized - The super is nice Cons: - Several mentally ill tenants - Many neighbors were addicts or alcoholics - Landlord once asked me to "physically rough up" another tenant - Roaches, roaches, roaches!! - "Exterminator" is a fraud - Maintenance issues - Horrible landlord - Terrible management - Impressively bad leaks that never get fixed - The elevator never works - Always hot in the winter and summer (even with ac on still 90+ deg in my room in the winter) - Dark corridors - Dirty - Basement is filthy - Basement door never locked so homeless people stay in the building - Drug dens on first two floors - Security deposit not returned, all requests ignored or turned down - Kitchen appliances only half work and management refuses to fix them - Most plumbing regularly floods or fails in other ways (eg. shower drain regurgitates) Advice to landlord: - Maintain the property - Don't ask tenants to "rough up" other tenants”
