— 505 WEST 162 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Cheap rent. Big living room. Cons: First apartment in NY so I had no idea that these things weren’t normal. 1. Heat pipe under floor had burst within my first few months of living there. Bedroom became a construction zone for a week. 2. Bathroom ceiling developed black mold, became construction zone for a week. 3. Rats fighting in walls on a regular basis. 4. Cockroaches discovered on a daily basis. 5. Once found the entire wall of mail slots sitting open. 6. Best for last... burst pipe in the ceiling caused a flood in the entire apartment. Management did not refund 1 item. Took months to even indicate they were working on the problem. This whole event (flooding of the apartment) happened 4 separate times before someone new started working in the office and we were able to negotiate being releases from our lease. Worst living experience of my life. Advice to landlord: I hope you have sorted out the curse of this building since I’ve left.”
