“Unit #BSMT Pros: Living right off of Queens Blvd in Sunnyside was far and away the best place about this apartment. Somehow there isn't too much car noise, with only a 2 minute walk to the 7. Cons: Now of course this was the 1st floor/half basement unit, but there was little sunlight in the rooms and they looked out directly into walkways for other tenants. Once every couple months sewage flooded into the apartment through the drains, and when a plumber came he said it was a problem with the main line and it was going to keep happening no matter what. The super was somewhat helpful, but other management were completely unresponsive.”
— 43-39 42 STREET · Queens“Pros: Nothing zilch nada Cons: Dirty stairwells and entryway, to get that out of the way but the management here is so god awful it borders on slumlord territory. We spent every last cent in savings we had to move after only living here a year. We spent almost all of last winter without heat or hot water, they almost never answer your maintenance requests even when you say it looks like your bathroom ceiling is going to fall in due to water damage, almost every appliance was broken when we moved in or broke eventually. We had roaches and mice and no one would take care of them. Save yourself the headache do not live here Advice to landlord: Try giving a sh*T about actual human people who rely on you AND PAY YOU for basic human necessities”
— 43-39 42 STREET · Queens“Unit 3A Pros: Most of the tenants are kind, pleasant and quiet. The building location is nicely situated. Cons: Upstairs neighbors that shout, drop things, have running children, fight, cause leaks. Bug infestations (roaches, waterbugs, plaster beetles) and no care to solving the issues. Leaks are responded to by painting over the damage. The front door was left broken and unlocked for months. Garbage in the back is left improperly handed, rats getting at it daily. Hallways unmaintained, dirty and trashed. Issues to management take weeks, if not months for any kind of response and handling -- usually at the barest level of resolution. Advice to landlord: Be an active, positive force for your building. Maintain it, repair damage proactively and in a timely manner. Handle bad tenants.”
— 43-39 42 STREET · Queens“Pros: Close to train Cons: Rats galore. Garbage in the back of the building is straight out of a nightmare. Tenants don’t bother putting their trash in the bins anymore unless they want to get gobbled up. They fling it into the general direction of the trash from a few feet away. Advice to landlord: Get rodent repellent trash bags like the other buildings on our block do. Get someone (super?? Never there) to clean the back every day so it doesn’t get out of control at the end of the week.”
— 43-35 42 STREET · Queens“Pros: Nothing - horrible company to deal with. Cons: Thieves live in building and steal packages. Caught on camera. Problems don’t get fixed for 3-6 months. Mgmt shout and call you names on the phone. Rats in walls. Advice to landlord: Be better.”
— 43-35 42 STREET · Queens“Pros: Good area, nice and renovated apartment Cons: Bedbugs, horrible plumbing, disastrous process in retrieving security deposit back Advice to landlord: If there’s bedbugs, fumigate the entire building and LISTEN to your tenants. You can’t just ignore them or give them grief about wanting to leave a place that is infested with bedbugs. A complete nightmare.”
