“Unit 2B Pros: there is roof access. Cons: they advertise a shared backyard - it’s not a backyard; it’s just where they keep garbage. there is pretty much no cell service in the whole building somehow unless you’re right up against the window. this makes doing laundry nearly impossible, as you start the machines with an app the walls are extremely thin, so you can hear everything going on in the other apartment there is also a HEAVY smoker on the first floor, so the first floor always smells like cigarettes, which sometimes follows you up the stairwell.”
— 314 EVERGREEN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 1B Pros: Large unit with washer and dryer in the building. Large bedroom with plenty of light. Cons: The fridge is very slim and difficult to fit your food in. Lots of rats outside leaving us unable to use the patio. Rats are also in the wall that scratch and make noise during the day. Smells of rat pee in the office and outside. Advice to landlord: Be proactive and make changes before you increase the rent.”
— 316 EVERGREEN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Nice building in brooklyn; good location, cheap, good for 20 somethings Cons: Refused to lower rent during covid and harassed us for it until our lease was up (quarantine was half of our lease) Advice to landlord: Have some empathy”
— 316 EVERGREEN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 3B Pros: Very nice small building with laundry downstairs! Cons: Balcony not appropriately sealed and leaks into balcony room from 4th floor. Advice to landlord: Paint yourself as there is alot of tinted white and the kitchen is extremely dark.”
— 316 EVERGREEN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: - building was well cared for and hallways were cleaned pretty regularly - unit appliances worked well and were brand new upon moving in - super was responsive and fixed any issues we had (though it was never anything major) - cool rooftop that everyone had access to Cons: - front door was made of glass and began to encourage package thieves - walls were super thin, we could hear entire conversations from our neighbors across the hallway and people walking up the stairwell - landlord switched the washing machine to an app which would have been great if the basement cell reception wasn’t spotty - most neighbors were respectful but the ones on our floor would shout all day and bang on doors for an hour if they got locked out - evergreen is a pretty busy street with lots of cars and people that I could hear even from the top floor with the windows closed Advice to landlord: Could work on building security. A lot of packages went missing at one point.”
