“Pros: Loved the location and price - rent controlled Cons: It's a loud place to live and it's an old building (a couple roaches over the course of three years). Lots of noise coming from street.”
— 316 EAST 6 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Pretty quietly considering location Love the smartphone/Bluetooth option to unlock the front door Good location Cons: Walls are paper thin with low ceilings so it’s not a noise free environment, does make you learn to be more mindful so you and any future neighbors you have will be thankful But tbh the worst thing about this place is one of the older male tenants (all studio apartments). I do not care that you’ve lived here for 20 years, XYZ, there is absolutely no reason that you should police this building. This includes things like threatening to call the cops on my two friends for being “too loud” at 3 am because they were walking up the stairs and one tripped and had a brief convo (ironically, I heard nothing from them and only heard him yelling and threatening them lol), opening your door just to check on people walking up and down the stairs, keeping your curtains open just to stare people on the sidewalk (creepy when you notice it’s you and it seems like he hasn’t even blinked)! I’m sure he means well but yeah I was happy to not deal with this again when I moved”
— 531 EAST 6 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: The building is clean, well kept and the super is incredibly friendly, responsive, and hard-working guy. Cons: A little loud on weekends with people on the street.”
“Pros: I'm really happy I lived here ultimately. The apartments are well-sized for one person, the super is very kind and hard-working, and the management company was easy to work with. Cons: My unit did not have warm shower water sometimes in the winter.”
— 392 1 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: - Amazing restaurants and bars nearby - Pretty hardwood flooring - Safe feeling inside with mostly younger people in the building - Feel safe walking outside at night as a young woman - Management was responsive to issues - Very easy to take out trash in the back Cons: - Small rooms for studio - Windows hard to open - Tiny bathrooms - Sometimes smells like weed or food in the hallway - Longer walk to subways and grocery stores (8-15 mins depending on where you want to go)”
— 316 EAST 6 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Safe and isolated Cons: no complaints at all Advice to landlord: give your super a raise”
— 312 EAST 6 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: A safe neighborhood with many amenities. Cons: The management company is slow to respond to repair requests to the point of negligence. Leaks go years without fixes. Ceilings fall in. The heat & hot water are unavailable a few times a year. The building has been infested with large roaches for over 10 years. Rats have recently been seen in the basement. No show super does the minimum. Advice to landlord: Regular maintenance would make huge difference to the quality of life in the building.”
