ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OF ST.JOSEPH · avg 3.0 ★★★★★ · New York City
“Pros: As long as your appliances and heat are running, the place is fine to live in. Cons: There is SO much that needs to be improved here. The owner needs to be more responsive to tenants. Many are struggling with heat issues in freezing temperatures outside and not a single technician has been in to fix the issue. Ongoing issues like this for months. The rooftop is not well maintained, the cushions are very dirty. The machines in the gym are not well maintained either. Advice to landlord: Please be more responsive to tenants living here”
— PACIFIC STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: I think that the building was quite nice, felt modern. The AC, washer/dryer in-unit, and nice gym and sauna were a nice perk. Cons: There's not much I can think of, as I was only here for a short time.”
— PACIFIC STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: The apartments have nice finishes and are in a great location. The bike room is a great plus and for the most part the other tenants are good neighbors. Cons: Where do I begin. I lived in the building for two years. My first year was fine. Second year was riddled with issues. There was no was no heat for months. Building management did not respond any of my emails about it until I threatened to call 311. Then they sent someone to replace the internal mechanism of the heater for myself and several other people who were also experiencing heating issues. I was told that the heater should work exactly the same. Except of course it didn’t. My bill for that month was $400!!!! I emailed them about it multiple times and to this day they have not responded. The building heating issue is a known problem that basically everyone experiences. The heaters blow cold air only. Even the super confirmed that it was a building wide issue. Beyond that, the share roof top is not maintained. The grills are Lewis dirty and the furniture is covered in mildew and ripped after being left out in the rain and hot sun. They don’t replace them. Just put the same ripped cushions out again and again. If you’re okay with all of that and just want an outdoor space to host a small get together with friends over the weekend, you’re shit out of luck! Why? The super had a bad experience with on tenant being loud with guests on the roof and decided to ban gatherings altogether. Another thing? Brown water comes out of the faucet, shower, and kitchen sink. Emails about that are also left unanswered. The community lounge space is also a mess and smells like mold and mildew. The building also has a gym but the catch is almost all of the equipment is broken! At this point I’m sure you get it. Don’t waste your time or money on this place. Building management is absolute trash. Advice to landlord: Literally just do better. Respond to messages from tenants. Try to solve problems and make this building livable.”
— PACIFIC STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Well maintained building Cons: 1. there a people covering their faces/hiding their identity and dealing drugs openly on the street RIGHT OUTSIDE my bedroom/living room window - I DO NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL 2. the walls are very thin and there’s no privacy between units. you’re living with your neighbors Simply don’t do it to yourself it’s not worth the money at all. Advice to landlord: Get armed security guards”
— PACIFIC STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Great location, lovely finishes and large appliances, beautiful roof deck and nice amenities Cons: Management is basically non-existent, complaints about bugs Advice to landlord: Respond to people”
— PACIFIC STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Clean, new building with decent amenities Cons: Still working out some kinks”
— PACIFIC STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Location, view from roof, quality appliances Cons: Fraudulently advertised the building as having live-in super and 24 hour doorman, poorly built, management is unresponsive/ slow”
— PACIFIC STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Some of the folks that work in the building are great. Cons: -Very poor quality construction for any building much less "luxury building" - crooked door handles, leaks, appliances that don't work, a ludicrously bad heating system. -Amenities took months to open, still no parking -Building management that can go silent on issues for weeks Advice to landlord: You need much lower rent terms going forward, or everyone will move out and reviews like this will continue to ensure people don't move in.”
— PACIFIC STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: The location is great, the neighbors living in the building are all really nice, my apartment gets good sunlight Cons: This building already has so many problems and it’s not even finished yet. It’s clear everything is caused by the management company being cheap and shady- the heating/ ac units break down, the lights go out, there are leaks, they are still doing major construction in the basement that is incredibly loud- I could go on- and management (Galil Management- Joel Goldstein) is unresponsive when you contact them. They outright ignore your emails and phone calls. Don’t live here. Advice to landlord: Develop a conscience? They know exactly what they’re doing and they don’t care. My advice to prospective tenants is to either not live here or negotiate for much cheaper rent.”
— PACIFIC STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Location is good, neighbors were friendly Cons: Management is the absolute worst. They do not reply to any emails or calls. My unit was a mess when I moved in and I was never given a proper walk through. I had leaks, water damage, a washing machine almost fell on me, scratches and paint marks all over the unit, a coffee ring stain in the bathroom floor, so much more. Basically lived in an active construction unit for the first 5 months because the building wasn’t completed nor were the occupied units. Management never gave notice about needing entry and would show up at my door harassing me to get in. The building is so poorly constructed and the walls are ridiculously thin. I can hear all my neighbors on my floor, every sound they make from locking and unlocking their doors, to running water, talking, barking, etc. Management allowed tenants to live in the property without having a TCO and then let the TCO–that they did eventually get–expire. Management lost my security deposit that I handed over to them in person and tried to collect a second security deposit, which is illegal in NYC. Avoid this building! They are money grabbers and scammers. Not to mention, they rented me a housing lottery apartment at market value. Advice to landlord: The least you could do is respond to emails and calls.”
