“Unit 1i Pros: Relatively affordable rent price for market rate apartments in the area. Most neighbors don't bother each other. Cons: Very frequent need for repairs and deferred maintenance makes it worse. Staff will often tell you in advance a worker is coming such day but then the worker never shows up and the staff didn't tell you they had to reschedule. You have to chase down the staff constantly to get anything fixed. The apartments are not well insulated around the older window models and some rooms have basement tunnels underneath, so the heat is not always adequate. Landlord raises the entire to the maximum amount allowed by the new laws. Some neighbors are constantly smoking pot outside or in the hallway that you can smell in your unit unless you insulate your doors and windows yourself. Advice to landlord: Do proactive maintenance. This is an old building! You can't just be reactive. Also, find the source of leaks so they don't keep repeating.”

— 446 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: 1 min walk to BQ train. 5 min walk to Prospect Park. Nice flowers and seasonal decor outside. Cons: Mice, cockroaches, mosquitoes, fruit flies, maggots, flies. Endless pests regardless of how clean we kept it. Holes in all the window screens. Super is mostly MIA. There’s a rooftop alarm that used to go off repeatedly. He’s literally the only one who can disarm it and of the 10 times it went off, it took him anywhere from 30 min to 12 HOURS to turn it off. Lots of noise and smoking in the common courtyard. The building is on Caton which is a main truck route, and there was a pot hole in the road so when big rigs would drive by, which was constantly, not only would you hear the truck but the entire building would shake. Advice to landlord: Fix the window screens. Get rid of the rooftop alarm. Don’t be a-holes.”
