“Pros: great location, even with the 10min walk from the train. unique apartment Cons: a pipe burst in the wall between the first and second floor in the building and management was very slow and resistant to fixing the entire issue. our floors and our neighbors floor looked like a hilly golf course, and they kept rising. months later, we literally couldn't open the front door because of the swelling hardwood and management said "don't worry, it will go down" and we had to demand they do something. they then just ripped out the old floors and took another month to replace the floors. water damage in the ceilings, sagging roof, leaks in the roof. every one of the roofers told us management didn't want to pay to fix it the right way. the walls in the building were too thin for all the crazy shit consistently happening in this building. haven't lived in a place where the cops were out front of the building this much (i never called them) Advice to landlord: fix things the right way”
— 173 JEFFERSON STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: The rent at the time was cheap but that was only because the landlord had the building zoned for commercial and not residential. Cons: NOISE, the lower level “commercial” space is a grungy slumlord who leases the basement out to anyone who will pay. How anyone lives in those unsafe conditions, I don’t understand. Please avoid this building at all costs!!”
— 173 JEFFERSON STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: nice appliances, keyless building entry. great location, awesome outdoor spaces Cons: an abundance of ceiling leaks. really weird way to divide space. management is slow to repair and downplays severity of issues. mentioning 311 is the only way to make them proactive Advice to landlord: when someone tells you “the floors in my apt are rising” (pipe burst in the building) “and i can’t get out of my front door, and therefore the apt” don’t tell them it’s not a big deal and to just wait for the swelling to go down. tf are you gonna do if there’s a fire and that’s the only egress?”
