“From footsteps of your neighbor above you (including his extremely energetic dog and ceiling fixture rattling TV), to voices in the hallway (or the couple across from you having a full-blown screaming match), to people talking and kids screaming and playing in the courtyard, and don't forget the bottles rattling when being thrown in the recycling bin at all hours, this place is not the greatest for those seeking quiet. Staff is friendly but there is no maintenance like those I've experienced at other places (e.g., yearly pest control or fan/air filter replacement). Thank God I work long hours in Manhattan... Other perks, having laundry in the building but without staff supervising or some general consideration for others, usually laundry hogs who take up the entire row of machines for their own laundry can make make it seem like there is no perk. Apartments facing the courtyard can get very warm as there is little breeze to be had with open windows except for the smoke from the many smokers who frequent it...”

“This place sucks. This place is perfect for self-absorbed morons. Definitely not worth the money. Rent here at your own risk!!!”

“I lived in the armory for three years, alone with my beloved dog, who has since passed on. I had a one bedroom with an alcove facing Clermont Ave. It was huge and very bright. Actually, almost too bright during the spring and summer. The floors were new and all the appliances were in fairly good condition. It was not Subzero quality, but it was nonetheless decent. All the apartments come with a dishwasher. The staff was great and very attentive. However, like most new buildings, the walls were thin and you could hear your neighbors at times. This is an elevator building, which is great. The overall design of the building really does make it look like a hotel. Somewhat sanitary and without character. The majority of the people living in the building during my tenure were young professionals with some families mixed in. The building is very dog friendly. There is a coin-operated laundry room on the ground floor, which was very convenient. The area can be a little sketchy. Myrtle Ave (once known as Murder Ave) is somewhat dodgy, but two blocks over on DeKalb Ave are a slew of restaurants, bars and small shops. Since I had a dog, having Ft. Greene Park only four blocks away was great. Overall, my experience living in the building was overwhelmingly positive. Subway access is a bit of a drag, but if you walk about 10 minutes to BAM, you can catch the 1,2,3,4,5,6, D,Q, N and R trains.”

“Tasteful buildings really two building connected by a hallway and good design in an evolving neighborhood. Building is kept very clean and guest comment that it more like a hotel. Room size is good except in the few three bedroom apartments. Maintenance staff is excellent and really cares for the building on property super. Has a full time doorman. Building is incredibly dog-friendly with as many as 70 dogs living among the 100 units. It has a public patio which is rarely used. Okay, new restaurants nearby and coming and neighborhood changes. Closest subway is G and a long 3 blocks away; 4 so-so bus lines service the area and the #54 and #69 stop beside the building. The 54 and 38 buses provide quick access to downtown Brooklyn and more subway options.”

“Still a sketchy area. Close to the Fort Greene Houses. Crime is a concern.”
