— 439 WEST 147 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Outdoor space is wonderful Cons: Poorly maintained, mgmt doesn't do anything and they're quite rude. Impossible to heat or cool well (bad windows) and it costs a fortune during the winter and you'll still use space heaters. Lots of leaks and cracked floor tile. Ants and roaches downstairs constantly. Advice to landlord: Put some time and money into the building before it's too late.”
— 441 WEST 147 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: N/A cant see any pros Cons: The building lacks Efficient heating. Pest control is a big real issue Advice to landlord: Fix the issues asap”
— 456 ST NICHOLAS AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: It’s in Harlem and centrally located to the train. Cons: Bottom line, the owner of the building is a scam artist. When we first moved in he charged myself and my roommates 3x the rent EACH for a security deposit. Simply because we were young and didn’t have much credit established. He took total advantage of us 3 girls, young transplants that we desperate for a stable apartment. Not knowing that we were OVER PAYING in comparison to the apartments in the neighborhood and for the lack of amenities. The apartment was FILTHY when we moved in. There were mice problems, roaches and bed bugs. Mold as well. No help from the management company ever to rectify these issues. They would sent old drug addict biweekly to drop off mouse traps. When you make a complaint to the management company they’re very RUDE, slow to action and act like you’re being an inconvenience to them. Mind you WE PAID EVERY MONTH ON TIME! The super was very nice but very intimidated by the management company so he wasn’t always “allowed” to provide certain maintenances. Ie : I asked for my bedroom to be painted after 6years 🙄 and he said the management company said no but he wished he could do it. The hallways haven’t been painted nor any updates in YEARS but yet they confidently increase the rent every year. They suck. If you can avoid it, I would suggest save yourself the headache and pick another apartment Advice to landlord: DO NOT DO IT”
