— 340 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 3A Pros: It is a clean apartment with tall ceilings and a great location. Cons: The bedrooms/kitchen are a bit small. Advice to landlord: Be more responsive for fixes within apartments.”
— 340 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Like the area - you are directly in between EV/Stuytown/Gramercy and walking distance from several train lines. There are 4 apartments per floor so not too congested in the building. Building cleaned and maintained for the most part when staff is working. No pests except for the outside area (rodents), but none inside the building. In unit washer and dryer. Cons: Can get really loud on the weekends depending on if the neighboring buildings are throwing a party in the patio area since the sound will echo/be amplified. Can hear upstairs neighbors footsteps. It’s really hard getting the super to fix maintenance requests and there isn’t a formal way to hold him accountable since the only way to get ahold of him is through constant text reminders. Package system isn’t the most secure since most couriers will leave things outside of the package closet or at the front door, making it risky for a package to be stolen (I’ve had packages stolen a few times). Pretty sure our smoke alarm doesn’t work and super mentioned it’s been difficult to replace the batteries so it’s been a known issue… Advice to landlord: Please operationalize the maintenance process so that there is a way tenants can submit tickets for things that need to be fixed.”
— 340 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great location! Great outdoor space! Cons: When we were robbed in the middle of the night due to a malfunctioning lock on our living room window, the management did absolutely nothing. We filed a police report. Not only were we robbed, but the buildings to the left and right of us were robbed in an identical manner during the same week and the management took no onus as to the lack of functioning locks on living room windows. They ignored our complaints and never fixed the locks. Advice to landlord: I don't know if it is still the same property owner ... but if it is, buyer beware.”
— 340 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 4D Pros: Good light from south facing windows Trash is not right by the front door Cons: Dead roaches when we moved in, saw at least one live roach Couldn't reach the super and management was slow in fixing the window leak Multiple plumbing problems in bathroom, sink was backed up and unusable Advice to landlord: Be more responsive”
— 346 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: In unit washer dryer, dishwasher Cons: Tiny kitchen, very loud neighbors”
— 340 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Live-in super, no bugs, well-maintained units, intercom access, package room. Cons: We had a huge water leak in the ceiling of the building that management took a while to fix the resulting damage. Property management is very slow to respond. Occasional package theft issues despite the existence of a package room. Advice to landlord: Be more responsive to tenant issues and complaints related to package theft and maintenance requests.”
— 336 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: The apartment itself was lovely, with really nice finishes. The super was great and responsive. The building was clean and pretty well maintained, by NYC standards. Cons: When we moved in there were some issues with mold in one of the closets, which were addressed. Other repairs went unaddressed for almost a year, which was very frustrating. It seems management changed during our 2 year lease because after a year of being completely unreasonable, rude, and unresponsive, they were replaced by seemingly competent people (who were at least less rude). May be a one-off experience though, as I’ve heard some pretty bad things about the company from others who have rented in the past.”
— 340 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Good water pressure, good location. Cons: Roaches in the summer, mice. This was in 2018-2019 so I’m not sure what the situation is now.”
— 336 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Clean, renovated building New appliances Laundry in Unit Cons: Management slow to respond Building flooded and left without working fire alarm for months In 11 months there have been two floods, one from rain, one from laundry exploding on upper floor Building is being sold Advice to landlord: Respond to your tenants, especially when you're in violation of the lease”
— 336 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 1A Pros: Gorgeous, recently renovated appliances & interior. Architecture of the building is renovated but still keeps it's unique charm. The actual building maintenance workers/guys who operate the day-to-day are great, just inhibited by a terrible management company Cons: Centennial properties is awful - they don't care at all about their tenants and it's blatantly obvious they will cut costs at any corner they find, neglect the basic rights of the tenants and continue to just be the ultimate slum lords with no repercussions Advice to landlord: Just try giving like, 1/1000 of a crap about the tenants living in the apartments. (this is to centennial properties, not the actual workers who maintain the buildings)”
— 346 EAST 18 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Clean building with nice hallways and large sunny apartments Cons: Package drop off sometimes wouldn’t be behind the locked door and put deliveries at risk”
