“Pros: Our unit is a good size for a 1 bedroom Cons: Literally everything else. The building is not well maintained from basic cleaning to elevators. The elevators look like something out of a horror movie. There was an exterminator that came once upon a time, inconsistently, but now it doesn’t come at all. If you have any issues in your apartment, management is not responsive at all. It’s like pulling teeth to get them to come and fix any issues. Advice to landlord: Actually take care of people that pay you rent!!!”
— 815 EAST 14 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Its location and the size of the units Cons: Unresponsive and deceptive management, no regular exterminator service (despite the owners’ claims to the contrary), leaks, infrequent heat, issues with water pressure, lack of cleaning the building Advice to landlord: Serve the people who are paying you a lot of money to live in the building!”
— 815 EAST 14 STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 6C Pros: Neighbors are nice and generally helpful Cons: The landlords never gave us a copy of our lease or ANY contact information, even the super downstairs has no way to contact management! Our stove/oven has been out of commission for 7 MONTHS, because nobody bothered to finish installing it! When we moved it, we were promised it would be finished within a week. The heat is barely on, to the point where we've had a glass of water left on the windowsill freeze overnight. The elevator intermittently just stops working for days at a time. There's a serious pest problem. Advice to landlord: What I want to suggest the owners do at this point would constitute harassment if put in writing.”
— 815 EAST 14 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Elevators always work, entrance and hallways pretty clean, walls extremely thick, plenty of heat in fall and winter, quiet neighbors. Management company was okay on lease renewals and good about getting full security deposit back. Live in super was a good guy and very helpful for apartment issues. Cons: Typical pre-war stuff - low electricity capacity, no laundry on site, small windows make window ac units difficult. Apartment was broken into once but nothing stolen.”
— 815 EAST 14 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Building is well kept in a good location. Responsive super. Cons: Management and broker were very slow to respond to concerns. Apartment was not fully ready for me during move- in. It was dirty and the radiator cover was randomly standing in a different room from where it belonged. Apartment front door too short, I had to cover the gap myself. Advice to landlord: Prepare apartments better for new tenants.”
— 815 EAST 14 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Peaceful and Quiet. Can hear a pin drop except for occasional ambulance or police responding to emergencies Cons: Old windows with minimal frame insulation which either results in loss of heat and/or permits outside cold air being forced in from gusty winds. Advice to landlord: Do a complete window restoration.”
— 815 EAST 14 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Quiet place to live Cons: Unresponsive management that doesn’t seem to Care Advice to landlord: Get more involved”
— 815 EAST 14 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: - Nice enough super Cons: - Major pre-existing issues weren't disclosed - Unresponsive management -- unless it's about collecting rent - Unit wasn't clean when rented These are just not good people right now, I'm sorry to say. I hope they can improve in the future. Advice to landlord: Treat others as you would prefer to be treated”
— 815 EAST 14 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Close to subway, beautiful neighborhood with tree lined blocks. Apartments are big. Elevators functional. Pet friendly. Digital buzzer. Super onsite. Cons: Multiple ceiling leaks; slow to non-existent repairs. Older apartment units are poorly maintained. Super great at cleaning but not very helpful otherwise. No hot water for days at a time, and when it is available the pressure is very, very low. Several instances of mice-no idea how they are getting in. Roaches as well, even though the spray monthly. Advice to landlord: If you’d like to keep good tenants-do right by them!”
— 815 EAST 14 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Great location. Good neighborhood Cons: Poor heating - prepare to freeze if the temp outside drops below 65. Leaky roof. Unresponsive landlord. Poor water pressure/heat Advice to landlord: Don’t ignore your tenants complaints”
