“Unit 21 Pros: I like that the common area is generally well maintained and a lot of the neighbors have lived here for a long time so everyone seems to respect the space Cons: In the summer there is a problem with roaches, flies, and ants. The exterminator came a couple times and he was nice but the pests would come back. In the winter, the apartment gets super cold. The super has come to try and fix it many times but the heat is still very minimal. Even with many layers on, I am still cold in my living room. Another big problem is stolen packages. Despite having cameras around, our packages get stolen all the time if we don’t come downstairs and retrieve them the moment they get delivered. When asked for security camera footage, the building was not compliant. Doubtful that they work. Advice to landlord: Don’t be so stingy with the heat and have more protective measures in place against package thieves.”
— 596 BUSHWICK AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 9 Pros: Close to the subway Cons: Practically half the packages you get delivered here WILL get stolen. There’s a bar on the ground floor that plays music late into the night that I can hear from my apartment when I’m trying to sleep. The super sometimes will ignore your texts, there’s the occasional cockroach, and you have to keep your windows open in the winter because they overdo it with the heat Advice to landlord: Implement something to prevent stolen packages PLEASE. I started having to get my packages shipped to my job and friends apartments because I know if a package I buy gets delivered when I’m not home, it won’t be there by the time I am. Hire a doorman, have the super bring packages to each person’s apartment, SOMETHING”
— 596 BUSHWICK AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Nothing at all Cons: It’s dirty, dark, not maintained at all. They don’t do any kind of pest control. The water pressure is horrible. They won’t fix anything because they’re stuck with a rent stabilized building and to the owners dismay can’t just kick everyone onto the curb. Advice to landlord: Sorry you want to get rid of your partly rent stabilized building so badly to make room for more condos.”
