“Pros: Great location close to climbing gyms, park slope food coop, prospect park and the r train. Hands off building with quiet neighbors. Never hear from management. Good light in front building Cons: Above a bar/cafe that has gotten louder over the years. Building never once cleaned in two years of living in it, super never seen except when called to repair something. Shocking rent increases! Garbage in cans taken out but large items accumulate in alleyway”
— 259 4 AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Trash stored in a separate alley out back that is frequently emptied. Never saw a rat in the alley. Great system. Cons: Terrible unresponsiveness and general incompetence from landlord. Heat out for a month, hot water out for 2 weeks. Never gave us a second set of keys. Roof leaks. There is more. And every time we tell the landlord about something, he doesn’t believe us.”
— 259 4 AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Shared courtyard, good location. Cons: Old owner stopped paying mortgage bc the huge condo next door cracked the foundation. New owner took over 6 years later and immediately raised our rent by $600 without doing any work to fix old problems. We had to buy our own refrigerator after ours broke. The old skylight in the living room leaked and let in cold air in the winter. Only heat source was in the bedrooms. Advice to landlord: Stop being so shady.”
— 259 4 AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Good location and cheap rent. Cons: Felt shady. Came home once to find a notice from the city affixed to the front door saying do not enter because illegal units were being built. Advice to landlord: Comply with city regs”
