Pros: Literally nothing. This was a disaster of a living situation. The only saving grace was proximity to the G (1-2 min walk to Greenpoint Ave station). Cons: - Cleanliness: the apartment and building are filthy. The apartment I stayed in was owned by the landlord’s son and had cockroaches from Day 1. When I turned on the faucet, roaches emerged from the sink. There were also dead roaches on the bathroom and kitchen floors when I arrived, so this is an ongoing issue. Management refused to address this in a timely manner - took several messages from me for them to finally hire an exterminator, who didn’t show up for 1+ months. I ultimately left the apt early because of how disgusting it was. These people clearly don’t care about the well-being of their tenants. - Noise: Extremely loud live-in super who blasts music at odd hours of the day, and doesn’t turn it down. - Overall building condition: Building needs some basic renovation - I came across dead roaches on the staircase several times. The apartment I stayed in had a bathroom in terrible condition - the wooden door pane kept falling out (I didn’t even know this was possible), and sometimes the water color came out funky. I have photo and video evidence for all of the above issues and am happy to share. Advice to landlord: Address your cockroach issue and stop gaslighting tenants when they bring up very valid issues with your apartment. Also, tell your live-in super to get headphones or something - the loud music is obnoxious and inconsiderate.
