“Pros: location is wonderful Cons: the landlord is a legit criminal. repairs are never fixed unless you call 311 then the landlord and super, "Jerry", will harass you and try to intimidate you into moving out. The landlord owes over $100,000, his building is under foreclosure, he has changed his company name 3 times as well as address. He will delay cashing your check then send fake eviction notices stating you are to move out for not paying rent. Advice to landlord: Show up to court. There are several appearances you have avoided and more to come.”
— 1748 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Unit 5N Pros: First apartment didn't know any better Cons: In the span of two weeks I trapped 9 different mice. When I told the owner about didn't care, nor helped me with the problem. The super nowhere to be found. A few months later had to fight an infestation of cockroaches. At the end the landlord sent fraudulent checks with my security deposit. Took him to small claims court Advice to landlord: Care about your building.”
— 1748 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Unit 5N Pros: Location is great and the apartments get pretty good sunlight Cons: You will never speak to the landlord. They keep themselves completely separated and have David the real estate agent do all of their dirty work. I left the apartment in mint condition (even doing some repairs myself) and they have refused to return my deposit. They are slimy crooks Advice to landlord: Stop being a scumbag and return deposit to renters when they move out”
— 1748 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: The tenants are nice Cons: There was no secure place to put packages, so having your packages stolen was a common occurrence for some residents. Any "renovations" they make in the ads for apartments are lies, we had a black trash bag around our bathroom sink the whole time we lived there. There was no temperature management, so an indoor heater we well as AC is necessary. One time, our ceiling light in the bathroom overflowed with brown water (someone burst a pipe upstairs) and the super expected us to spend the weekend with the ceiling light like that, right over our toilet. Like the smell of weed and the sound of people leaving the bar? That'll be your 2am-5am! Lastly, just know, you wont get your security deposit back. No matter how well you maintain the apartment, you will NOT get that 2k+ back, and you can't contact the owner either. NEVER AGAIN. Advice to landlord: Act like you own a building where human beings live.”
— 1748 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Location, decent space Cons: Broken stairs on every floor, reeks of alcohol (neighbor is a pub), nonstop bug/rodent problem Advice to landlord: Fix your building”
— 1748 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Great architecture, great location, great price. This was a perfect place to get started in the city. Surrounded by grocery stores and nightlife. Cons: Noisy with the bar, slow to fix things, some mouse problems.”
