HARRISON PLACE REALTY, · avg 3.3 ★★★★★ · New York City
“Unit 1R Pros: Amazingly high ceilings, great location Cons: We lived here in 2020-21. Giant Rat colony in basement and backyard and walls which they only did something about after we withheld rent. Huge waterbug/cockroach issue. Super loud concrete factory next door so I hope you don't like to sleep past 5am weekdays. Backyard basically unusable because of insane mosquitoes from auto dump behind fence. Laid rat poison in yard without considering our dog and almost killed her. Kitchen cabinets fell off the wall ruining our things and almost setting the place on fire, and they tried to blame us for "putting too much stuff in it" and not the fact that this huge cabinet was only hung with TWO 10lb anchors. If a landlord offers an apt "As Is" ask yourself WHY!!! Advice to landlord: Clean up the backyard, go crazy on the rats, and get a Weekly exterminator, and take responsibility.”
— 54 HARRISON PLACE · Brooklyn“Pros: The units have cute character and moderate natural light Cons: The building isn’t the most well-kept, especially the common areas/stairwells. We also had some maintenance issues and the maintenance guy is SO rude, unprofessional, and inconsiderate of our personal space and home. Not to mention he smokes cigarettes inside the building. The landlord is always helpful and responsive though.”
— 54 HARRISON PLACE · Brooklyn“Pros: 20 ft to Morgan L. Bus stop out front. Nice mini-neighborhood around the corner with bars, restraints, grocery l, retail and coffee. Lots of sunlight! Tall-ish ceilings. Original charm (fireplace, built ins, etc). Great heat and water pressure. Quiet neighbors for the most part. Street is quiet at night during the week. Good sized railroad style units. Landlord and super (not live-in) are sweet and attentive. Pet friendly. Cons: Building is old and not renovated. Some units more up-to-date than others but no units really have what I would call a “modern” renovation. Next to concrete factory so it’s noisy from 6am-2pm but it’s like machinery noise not banging a hammer or kids screaming. Concrete factory creates dust too. Appliances are fine but old. Lighting fixtures aren’t great. Lots of layers of paint on the walls. Windows are old, Lots of jimmy-rig fixes throughout. Rats are out front in garbage sometimes but never had an issue in the building. Small bug problem twice a year or so. Advice to landlord: Some of the units good use a fresh remodel. The building might have a bug problem. Windows could use a refresh as they don’t insulate well and the dust makes them not very see thru some times.”
