“Pros: Amazing location, apartments are large and rent stabilized Cons: Super is grumpy”
— 95 EASTERN PARKWAY · Brooklyn“Pros: Location, common areas clean Cons: I lived on the first floor in the back and would often be woken up by the rats. I’d have to keep my window open all winter because it was so hot and then a few times the heat would just turn off and it would be freezing. The super is mean and unresponsive.”
— 73 EASTERN PARKWAY · Brooklyn“Unit 5C Pros: The location to the train and park are amazing. There was a huge amount of closet space for a studio and laundry in the basement was a big bonus. Cons: It’s an old building, so there are some maintenance issues. I had one mouse while I was there. There were several leaky pipe issues while I was there over two years and ultimately I had to move out earlier than intended when a burst pipe above me flooded my unit. In the aftermath of this leak the landlord has been difficult and unresponsive. He’s making me put up a fight to get my rent back despite the unit becoming uninhabitable in the first week of the month. He’s not being responsive to my renters insurance. Advice to landlord: Answer your phone”
— 73 EASTERN PARKWAY · Brooklyn“Pros: Overall quiet, clean, calm, and friendly neighbors Cons: Really nothing bad to say!”
— 73 EASTERN PARKWAY · Brooklyn“Unit 3A Pros: Great location, good light, laundry in basement Cons: Super is an asshole Wouldn’t fix problems like leaking from the ceiling Super thin walls meaning you can hear your upstairs/downstairs’ neighbors’ every move Management didn’t care when my apartment was robbed”
— 73 EASTERN PARKWAY · Brooklyn“Pros: Huge rooms for NYC, big apartments, amazing location, great water pressure in the bathroom Cons: - broken front door constantly - frequent stolen packages - rats rats rats - giant roaches - dead ones completely carpeting the halls twice in the last 5 years - bathroom plumbing completely coming apart in multiple stacks with ceilings caving in and sewage overflowing - the super is an aggressive, scary, almost incomprehensible unfriendly giant. He just feels evil. - management does the bare minimum and avoids fixing issues - over 90 open violations - the apartments are REALLY cold, insufficient heating in general - hot water scalds, shower temperature fluctuates moment to moment Advice to landlord: Get a conscience”
— 95 EASTERN PARKWAY · Brooklyn“Pros: Living on the private side of the building offers quietness. Heat, when it works, is adequate. Usable space and closets. Elevator was down (only?) 4 times in the 2 years I lived there. Nice big windows. Cons: Water takes a very long time to get hot in the winter. Trash can sometimes pile up in front of building.”
— 73 EASTERN PARKWAY · Brooklyn“Pros: The location and neighborhood are amazing Cons: This building is filthy. Even the cleanest tenant will find themselves constantly killing roaches and hearing mice within the walls. They need to get control of this problem Advice to landlord: Take your tenants’ concerns seriously and clean up the building. The rodent and pest situation is out of control, really unacceptable”
— 95 EASTERN PARKWAY · Brooklyn“Pros: Great location, charming lobby Cons: Awful, unresponsive management, mice/rats/roaches, filthy building Advice to landlord: Start doing your job”
— 95 EASTERN PARKWAY · Brooklyn“Unit 5A Pros: -Concrete walls make for pretty great silencing of music etc -Theres cameras in the lobby where mail is dropped off so nothing goes missing -working elevator (but VERY small) -laundry in the basement (just a couple units but you rarely have to wait) Cons: -Dirty building -floor to ceiling is thin in the sense of - if people are doing anything on the floor - even walking- youll hear it - recently with inconsiderate neighbors its been absolute hell -Super doesnt speak great english and makes repairs a pain to schedule (you have to be present and he comes when its good for him) -management can be a pain to communicate with or negotiate with -old building and apartments get flooded every few years - one time big sheets of plaster fell onto my floor, management wasnt responding, super wasnt taking action and i had to call the fire department. My apt was such a mess, I had to pack up most of my things so repairs could be made etc, I went and stayed somewhere else for that month and management barely acknowledged it as more than an inconvenience and BARELY took anything off of rent Advice to landlord: Even the slightest support during covid would have been nice...or the slightest give in rent for lease renewal during the pandemic...”
