“Pros: Convenient location, great community, close to trains, grocery, resturants Cons: Management is terrible”
— 24-16 29 STREET · Queens“Pros: Great location close to the train. Huge apartment for the price. Great kitchen. Access to roof which was a nice city escape. Astoria is a great neighborhood Cons: Landlord unlawfully withheld security deposit and lied about laws to try and get us to drop the issue. Found multiple mice and a ton of cockroaches towards the end of 2020. They had an exterminator come every month but didn’t seem to help. Management is unresponsive. Bedroom window had to leak three times before they believed me and fixed it. Towards the end packages started being stolen frequently probably because the front door wouldn’t lock which they hadn’t fixed. Also the trash room was a mess and always had mice downstairs. Also did not try to make any effort to work with us during the pandemic when our lease was up Advice to landlord: Treating tenants well means they’ll retain better which ultimately is better for you as well. And don’t lie to your tenants”
— 24-16 29 STREET · Queens“Pros: Great neighbors, wonderful neighborhood, close to the train without train noise, close to shopping and businesses, close to Astoria Park. A wonderful neighborhood filled with families and artists. rent stabilized. Cons: There is not a single right angle in the place, the building has not been renovated and the majority of the tenants in this row of buildings on this block have been there for years and they recently started trying to buy people out so they could renovate the two bedroom apartments and make them three bedroom and charge over $3000 a month for them. when you move in, they don’t give you new appliances, they take appliances from the basement of the building that have been used by other tenants many times. And if you have a problem with your appliances, like if one breaks down, they don’t get you a new one they just give you a used one from the basement. It takes a little while to get repairs done, and I even had a consistent issue in one of the bedrooms and I told them exactly what the problem was and they just patched over it and did not actually repair the problem. Advice to landlord: Great building, great location, keep being fair and responsive to issues. The tenants who have lived here for years have a lot of good ideas about how to keep up the place.”
