“Pros: Neighbors are friendly, live-in super is very nice, great location close to everything, great light in the units. Cons: Really loud if youre street facing. The radiators can get really hot in the winter. Main issue is the lack of electricity for the building i.e the power goes out constantly if you run too many appliances at once. It becomes a huge annoyance in the summer. Advice to landlord: Update the electrical capacity in the building, do something about the ugly pipes/layers of silver paint that flake off of them.”
— 623 METROPOLITAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 15 Pros: Natural light and spacious Cons: Unresponsive management, 30+ days since moving out and we have not received communication regarding security deposit, heat pipes are way too hot (have to run AC in the winter), roach problem”
— 623 METROPOLITAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 5 Pros: Cheap (for the area) and location can’t be beat Cons: Old/outdated apartments Landlord will slap a coat of paint on it instead of actually fixing an issue (ex: have had a leak in my bathroom from the apartment upstairs for years and instead of fixing the leak, landlord just replaces the drywall every 6 months or so) No amenities whatsoever - no laundry, no roof access Super doesn’t do anything except garbage and if you want to recycle you have to do it yourself (he throws the recycling in the trash) Advice to landlord: Properly fix issues and update the units”
— 623 METROPOLITAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: - pretty quiet - great super in building - rent didn't increase too much after 1 year - good natural lighting in apartment Cons: - they did a lot of updates before we moved in but refused to paint the walls for free - initially had a cockroach issue, but management was good about sending pest control - have seen a couple mice - mailbox doesn't lock, management would not fix this issue - after my lease ended, it was impossible to get security deposit back. Absolutely no response from management. - hard in general to get in contact with management- no phone number or address. Advice to landlord: Be more responsive.”
— 623 METROPOLITAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 1B Pros: Location and food in the area is good. The bar across the street is absolutely wonderful Cons: The landlords are absolutely awful and misdated my lease which caused an insane amount of problems with multiple aspects of my life. They do not in any way care about the leaking pipes or mold in the building. The super yelled at me from his apartment when I opened my window to go outside the night I moved in. Very unwelcoming vibe if you’re not someone who’s lived in the neighborhood/building your entire life. My packages were stolen so many times and the super basically laughed at me. Advice to landlord: Renovate every aspect of this building or knock it down and build something Livable”
— 623 METROPOLITAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Near the subway Cons: People smoke in the staircase There is always a leak Heater doesn’t work properly During summer, power will go out because the electrical is terrible. Only the super can turn the power back on”
— 623 METROPOLITAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: My specific unit is really spacious, sunny and affordable. The super Smokey is great about taking out trash and bringing packages to your door Cons: Really old building that needs to be cleaned up. Loud neighbors. Bad package stealing problem. Pretty sure my unit has mold bc I have never sneezed so much in my life Advice to landlord: Update the building and get video cameras”
— 623 METROPOLITAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: The neighbors are very nice people. They are always willing to help. Cons: The landlords responsiveness to repairs. YOU CAN CALL the office and no one answers or they are RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. In order to get repairs you have to call 311 and make complaints. When 311 does violate him, he'll send someone over to PATCH up the repair without making an appt. The hallways are disgusting, it's like stepping out of the1970s. Dark and dingy is the correct way to express this. Stairs are broken well over a year, security front door always has issues. Heat is an issue, especially during the first months of heat season. Not enough garbage cans for 22 families (4 regular and two blue recycling cans). I haven't seen this lanflord in YEARS. He's just here to collect rent.. When renting an apt in this building they seem nice u til they lock you into lease.. They won't answer your calls or complaints. I DON'T HOW HE GOT SUCH A HIGH STAR RATING.. Maybe he's giving himself reviews.. If your planning on renting here you should knock on some doors and ask questions before signing the lease. Advice to landlord: 1. ANSWER THE PHONE AND TELL YOUR SECRETARY TO SHOW RESPECT AND STOP RUSHING your paying tenants off the phone as if our complaints don't matter. 2.. Get back to your tenants when they have complaints. 3.. Don't wait for your tenants to 311 in order to get some service. 4. Why don't you come through ever so often to see if your tenants need any service. You haven't been seen I. Years”
— 623 METROPOLITAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Its close to the train station and alot of what williamsburg has to offer Cons: The management company (Metroprop) does not pick up the phone or respond to voicemail or email. Additionally, during jewish holidays, it takes phonecalls from over half the apartments to get Metroprop to fix a major issue. Numerous building violations. The only way to get Metroprop to fix anything is to call 311 and get a violation written up. Front stairs have been broken for over a year. Advice to landlord: Answer the phone. Provide timely repairs. Reply to emails and return phonecalls. Leave someone with authority who can send repairmen to fix issues while your office is closed for religious holidays and vacations. Give ample notification before you have a repairman shut down the boiler or hot water/heat.”
