“Unit 23L Pros: The staff is great, everyone is so friendly and nice. They keep it super clean and are quick with maintenance. Truly an awesome building to live. Cons: Not a community vibe with neighbors but that’s totally fine”
— 201 EAST 87 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 19H Pros: - Amazing location - Great building staff, especially Vinny & Paul - Nice sized apartments - Extremely responsive management. All issues are handled extremely quickly Cons: The only con is the elevators. When I first moved in they were in the middle of completely renovating them. In spite of that they often break down and are incredibly slow. Always give yourself extra time due to this. The pros far outweigh this issue for me so it's an acceptable compromise. Advice to landlord: Love the building. Fix the elevators.”
— 201 EAST 87 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Building is well kept and staff is great Cons: The yearly rent hikes were insane. The gym is also an extra fee.”
— 201 EAST 87 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: management and doorman staff is phenomenal and super attentive. Cons: Elevators sometimes go out of order and there can be a long wait time during rush hour”
“Unit 29J Pros: Excellent, attentive management / services team; excellent location in the UES (i.e. above Whole Foods, near two line subway stops; Good units in terms of quality, floor space, and amenities Cons: Building is a bit dated, many units could use updating / touch-up / renovation Advice to landlord: Continue to find ways to keep units looking spruced up - the building otherwise sells itself!”
— 201 EAST 87 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Doormen and front desk guys are awesome Cons: NOISE. Since Covid, I have worked from home but the construction/refurbishment noise is unbearable. They give you advance notice but what good does that do? There's been loud construction noise about 40% of every day over the last year. HEAT. Because this building has many elderly tenants, they keep the heat on during the Spring and Summer even if the temp outside is over 50, so you have to keep every window open to keep from roasting. ELEVATORS. There's only been two out of three elevators in service for the last 18 months and they have no idea when they'll finally all be working. In the meantime, enjoy taking the smelly dirty service elevator! Advice to landlord: You should tell new tenants that the building is managed for the comfort of it's very elderly tenants and so the heat will be kept blasting most of the time. People should have advance warning that Claridge is essentially a retirement community.”
— 201 EAST 87 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: The staff at the door and desk are awesome! Great people, caring!! Cons: Management is unresponsive, slow. Took 6 weeks to get security deposit back. Huge cockroaches!!! Advice to landlord: Automate security deposit. Be more responsive to tenants. Consider incentives to keep tenants upgrade apts including stove, dishwasher”
— 201 EAST 87 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Friendly doormen, spacious units, lots of closet space Cons: Poor and ignorant management, cannot control heat, smoking permitted inside of individual units Advice to landlord: Protect and work with tenants”
