CATON FLATS HOUSING DEVELOPMENT FUND COR PORATION · avg 3.6 ★★★★★ · New York City
“Pros: Great location, near two stations, and buses. Grocery story next door. Not too busy for Flatbush Cons: Can get messy, the building has shared laundry and people have pets which can make your clothes itchy”
— 800 FLATBUSH AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 812 Pros: Building staff is very attentive and will follow up on service requests quickly (sometimes same day). They clean the entire building every other day, so it stays fresh. Units are a decent size and appliances are new and functional. Relatively soundproof, can sometimes hear neighboring children crying but it's not bad. Small but serviceable gym. Two outdoor terraces. Laundry room with tons of machines and a gorgeous view of Brooklyn. In general, it's a very well maintained building. Cons: Some of the tenants are not courteous of common areas, specifically the laundry room. The staff will mop the room at 8 am and by 9 am, you'll see laundry detergent and dust all over the floor. Also, the building is non smoking but you often smell cigarette smoke in the bathroom coming from other units. If your unit faces the street, you will hear a lot of street noise when you open the window. Flatbush is a super busy street with trucks and ambulances passing often. When it's closed, the noise is very dull. Advice to landlord: It's a great building, just wish some of the tenants took better care of common areas.”
— 800 FLATBUSH AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit PH1314 Pros: The units are quiet and the building has very well maintained garbage rooms on every floor with laundry on 14. Cons: The units have steam powered AC/Heat, which is ok in the summer but in the winter they can be loud unless you manually shut them off. The location is off the Q/B trains which are not always reliable.”
“Pros: Friendly neighbors, doormen, sound insulation, free gym Cons: Elevators break down a lot, package theft has been an on and off issue, mgmt can be very disorganized. Advice to landlord: Ensure your building mgmt staff actually care about their job. The unresponsiveness is alarming.”
— 800 FLATBUSH AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 1313 Pros: I like the outside of the building, it’s nice and looks so cool Cons: The building is always dirty, a lantern fly lived in the elevator for 3 weeks. We have spiders in the ceiling area that they don’t sweep down or clean. Laundry room is dirty most of the time, people smoke too much, this shit wasn’t even built properly it’s rushed and they never tell you the truth about open apartments, “security/ door man” falls asleep and some of them are rude and creeps. Advice to landlord: Do better.”
— 800 FLATBUSH AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 1417 Pros: Good amenities Great location, close to everything you could need. Cons: While the Super responds quickly, it takes a very long time to get repairs completed properly. Advice to landlord: Make the second floor patio onto a smoking section. Put signage up to curb your dog, and better sinage for the address.”
— 800 FLATBUSH AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 218 Pros: It's quiet, clean and comfortable. There are amenities like the gym, laundry and outdoor space. The staff who service the building are wonderful. Cons: I don't care much for the management team, they give you the run around. You have to email multiple times to get a response. All they care about is the money factor. Advice to landlord: More responsiveness to the tenants, better communication”
— 800 FLATBUSH AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 615 Pros: Brand new building Cons: Some of the finishes are cheap, management can sometimes be tedious to deal with”
