CARNEGIE MANAGEMENT INC · avg 2.7 ★★★★★ · New York City
“Unit 112 Pros: * Lots of space in the units, open plan to do whatever you want with it. * Cool building, cool rooftop, great little neighborhood. * Super is great * In building laundry is pretty decent Cons: * Units on the backside get _very little_ light. * Lofts are pretty low clearance, you will hit your head a lot. * Units above basement share floorboards between them, so you can hear people walking next to you. Walls are a little thin, you can hear a decent amount through them (and from floors above and below) * Realllly basic renovation job so they can rent units at a higher price, and they are probably quite overpriced. * Big management company is pretty detached and can be hard to get ahold of. * Huge rent increase every year. * I was lucky to have no rodent problems or leaks, others in the building not so much.”
— 345 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Great area, friendly neighbors lots of square ft in comparison to NYC. Access to the roof space is a plus. Cons: Cockroach issues had to have frequent visits from pest control. Super is hard to contact but eventually will help after multiple times contacting”
— 345 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: rooftop, events tenants held, some tenants were dope. cool lofts. Cons: loud, some tenants smoked cigarettes inside Advice to landlord: stop scamming people”
— 345 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 2 Pros: Great neighbors, loft-style apartments, great for artists looking for a live/work situation. The landlord lets you do whatever you want to your apartment, lots of neighbors have really cool buildouts. Cons: The floors in our apartment are super uneven concrete and impossible to keep clean, and the rent is skyrocketing in this building. We got lucky with a lease takeover but the other apartments I've seen in this building are absurdly expensive now. Also, the shared laundry machines run on an app, but there is no service in the laundry room and you have to run the machines from there. It is super frustrating.”
— 345 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Location Proximity to subway Cons: Building management Building upkeep Noisy Rude neighbors Pest issue”
— 345 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 8 Pros: Huge apartments, close to the L train. Cons: -bedbugs -roach infestation -mold -flooding -extreme rent increase from non-covid discounted rent rate -paper thin walls & extremely noisy neighbors -regular mail theft -inaccurate book keeping of management -excessive (which I later learned), illegal deposit taken -low quality construction within apartments -no action taken on disrespectful & violent neighbors Advice to landlord: All of the above.”
— 345 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: The neighbors are amazing, mostly. Many artists, musicians, dancers, and creatives, etc living here. Pretty tight knit community, mostly self managed. Tall ceilings, interesting interior layouts. Fantastic roof. Cons: Some of the “creatives” are really really loud and inconsiderate of other people. The walls are very thin. There are bugs and rodents. Tenants often smoke in the hallway and it’s disgusting. The live/work lofts used to be very open and large, but now management has decided to turn as many of them into 3-4 bdrm apts as possible to jack up the rent. Rent is too damn high, No longer under market rate. more difficult to do much “work” in the live/work space when there’s no more space. The management are crooks, shady. Look up all the lawsuits they’re involved in with the tenants. Insane. Advice to landlord: Update the appliances, insulate the walls. Stop building so many bedrooms in the once amazing and open spaces.”
— 345 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: they are putting in new laundry machines that are nice Cons: multiple pest issues, people are loud on the roof until 4am sometimes and you can hear it all if you live on the top floor, super not very responsive, poor construction, mold”
— 345 ELDERT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Artist community haven Cons: Management employs unethical business practices, Harasses tenants, trying to evict tenants despite Covid downturn, illegally converts units without permits, sends nonpayments to collection agencies despite Covid 19 Advice to landlord: Please do not harass tenants, file lawsuits, or send nonpayments due to covid-19 to collection agencies.”
