“Unit 6J Pros: Very family-oriented building with great neighbors. They also just got a new super this year who seems to be doing a lot more around the building with what he has to work with (it is an old building). They have updated the laundry room with new machines. The building is also pet friendly, at least when I moved in it was. Cons: Building still has cockroaches, even with monthly exterminators. Do have an updated laundry room but not an even number of washers/ dryers and there aren’t enough for how big the building is. Heat is obviously way too hot 🥵. I never know where to sort my recycling because the bins aren’t marked. Mgmt company seems bad, I’ve never gotten a renewal lease on time, I always have to reach out and ask. Advice to landlord: Modern updates to the common areas of the building. Secure package room. More washers/dryers.”
— 1170 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: The apartments are very spacious, with lots of closet space. In some of the apartments, there is a bathroom inside the master bedroom. Cons: At one point, there were far too many apartments that became vacant within a short amount of time. Also, there were some mice and waterbug issues.”

— 1170 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: The pros are large and spacious room, major potential. Cons: The cons are the patch work repair, lack of experience/response from the super, painter and helper. Tenants have experience theft of clothing from the dryer in the laundry room, lack of response or support from management, the garage is full of left over materials which poses as a fire hazard, paint buckets in the hallway, laundry room only have 3 washers and 2 dryers no laundry baskets, old folding table & needs painting, there's a steam leak in the main entrance, the main entrance facade is not inviting, the package room have a long cable that can potentially cause someone to choke because its hanging aimlessly. The building isn't fully ADA friendly. Advice to landlord: The property own needs to show that he/she cares about the tenants. The tenants deserve better a correspondence relationship. Provide a number and email address for tenants to correspond when there are issues in the building, require your super and his apprentice to complete certification courses in order to complete job up to code, put money into the building facade.”
