“Pros: We lived there for 3 years (moved out 2021). Beautiful block, nice apt. Cons: The floor was slanted, the renovations were done very cheaply and most importantly we were never able to get in touch with mgt. Took us months to get our deposit back.”
— 221 EAST 32 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: I never hear any of our neighbors when we’re in our apartment. The super is responsive to service requests. We’ve had good rent prices for the area while here. Cons: Impossible to contact management and they’ve changed their contact information several times over the course of 1 year. It is an old pre war building with rent stabilized units so the hallways, stairwells, and general bones of the building are noticeably old and outdated. UPDATE: THE BUILDING HAS NOT HAD COOKING GAS FOR FOUR MONTHS and the owners are extremely unresponsive and are not doing anything to fix the problem. Management does not respond to emails or phone calls and is uncoordinated in outreach. Random charges for thousands of dollars regularly appear on our rent ledger without explanation and they claim we haven’t paid rent for a month 8 months later. I think it will be many months before gas service is restored and I could never recommend that anyone agree to rent from these people. …more than 6 months without gas. Water has gone off and turned brown without notice. Rent stabilized units in the building have been without heat. Very clear that management does not care if their negligence kills someone. They are trying to force people out to make the building more profitable. Advice to landlord: Respond to tenants when they reach out. Find a new profession.”
— 223 EAST 32 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 2B Pros: When I moved in they we responsive and agreed to my lease terms. The apartment was in shambles and they fixed some things. You don't hear the neighbors too much. Apartments are quirky and have good storage. Cons: The floors are warped and squeak. Everything is fixed in a sub par manor. MANAGEMENT IS UNRESPONSIVE. I've called multiple times over the past year and they usually keep me waiting 1-4 months. The super is lazy and always seems like he doesn't like me. Many of the issues I asked to be fixed have broken again. If you live here, they stop caring about your needs. There are rats outside. Advice to landlord: Take more pride in your buildings and start treating your tenants like humans.”
“Pros: Location was great Cons: Next to school so it was relatively loud during weekdays, packages often left in the unlocked part of the building entrance”
— 223 EAST 32 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: I loved living here - the neighborhood is great, the building is clean and the neighbors are quiet, and the super is helpful. Cons: Multiple times over the course of the year we lived there we would have to play a week or two long game of phone tag with building management. Management was also pretty unresponsive when it came time to move out. It took us weeks to get in touch with somebody to discuss logistics & protocol for ending the lease and moving out, and and then when we were finally able to get someone on the phone it turned out the name & number I was given for the building manager wasn’t even the right person. Additionally, there was zero communication with us about when they would start showing the apartment, so while I was finishing cleaning the apartment and moving out the last of our stuff, the realtor showed up with visitors completely unannounced and I had to scramble to get my stuff and get out. Advice to landlord: Make sure the contact information you give to new tenants is correct!”
