“Pros: The unit itself is spacious and has a lot of potential, if it were better managed by the building. Cons: The management has intentionally lied about the status of this building regarding the Good Cause Eviciton law, was formerly a rent stabilized building but the owner never formally deregulated the building through DHCR and has not provided any proof of deregulation, violated our lease rider of repair or pest control within 7 days of notice within the first two weeks of our lease, management is difficult to communicate with and will make inaccurate statements until they are pointed out (in which case, they redirect attempting to cover their tracks). Horrible property management and maintenance, both in our individual unit, as well as the common areas of the building.”
— 96 GEORGE STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Units are spacious, back rooms overlook a nice backyard, reasonably quiet Cons: There must be hundreds of rats in and around this building, they eat through the garbage so every single time you come home you’ll be greeted by at least 10 rats scurrying away. Sometimes they’ll jump out of the garbage at you, my roommate was scratched by one the other night.”
— 96 GEORGE STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: The only positive was the cheap rent, but I soon learned why it was so cheap Cons: My apartment flooded 5 times. All of the above. Sewage water, rain water you name it. So bad the tore apart the wall to dry them out but they didn’t dry them full which began to lead to roaches, flys and rats Advice to landlord: Do better. Don’t dismiss your tenants concerns”
— 96 GEORGE STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Nothing to say. Cons: Basement flooded all the time, slow responsiveness from management company, FLIES EVERYWHERE, toilets backed up all the time and flooded, we had cold water for WEEKS that never got fixed until we called 311 and forced management company’s hand, washer dryer always broken, shall I go on? Advice to landlord: Eat sh*t.”
