“Pros: Right by Brower, off Kingston, friendly neighbors. Cons: Slumlord building owner, unresponsive, treats tenants poorly.”
— 921 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Close to the 3 and C train. Cons: Management took too long to fix maintenance issues. They didn’t properly address noise complaints and the front door was routinely broken, so anyone could get inside the building. Advice to landlord: Listen to your tenants.”
— 921 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 2D Pros: Nice building more or less well kept up. Cons: Pretty sure all these units should be rent stabilized but the landlords have many tenants on free market leases. Advice to landlord: Be honest about the rent stabilization status of your units.”
— 921 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Nice exposed brick Cons: Never got my deposit back…. They say they did. They didn’t. Then said they’d mail. They didn’t. Then basically said we could meet them in court for it. Also the roof was leaking and they refused o fix it. AND a heater was broken the entire year we lived there”
— 921 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Pros were that the location was very close to the Train and also close to grocery stores! Cons: Every other week there were roaches in building and lots of noise outside of the apt. Police were frequent in front of the location as well. During the summer more than 15+ individuals were always outside that made me feel very unsafe. A plethora of other things but those were the ones that came to mind. Advice to landlord: No advice, was great on being patient on rent, just need to be more attentive to the tenants and work on the apartments.”
— 921 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Clean Friendly Location Cons: Water Pressure is Rough Advice to landlord: Get ready to haul your trash downstairs the same day or it starts to leak and smell”
— 921 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: The city was on them and they cleared violations Cons: Takes months to fix things, trash piles up outside, different apts have different conditions (some central air, some not, etc), had to pay for our own extermination. Units should be stabilized but docs were falsified to destabilize”
— 921 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 2D Pros: In the heart of Brooklyn, close to laundromat and delis/grocery, close to public transportation Cons: They charge for things you don’t have. I was paying for an apartment with a balcony but they never finished building the balcony (hazard). They put in an electric stove but never removed the protruding gas pipe (hazard). The windows never locked. The heat/air conditioner broke all the time. They hound you for the rent but will NEVER fix any of your issues Advice to landlord: Pay more attention to what your tenants are telling you, you might get happier ones who pay on time *shrug*”
— 921 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Heat is good, people are really nice Cons: Management company takes forever to fix thing, walls are thin, people constantly playing music in the hallway Advice to landlord: Get better security for the building”
— 921 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Central heating/air- recent reno Cons: Super at the time didn’t speak English- impossible to reach landlord/mgmt company Advice to landlord: Be reachable to tenants”
