“Pros: I don’t like nothing about living in this building the supper needs to do better they need to fix the cameras in the building to see who is stealing the packages Cons: don’t like nothing about living in this building the supper needs to do better they need to fix the cameras in the building to see who is stealing the packages if it’s not the neighbors stealing the packages there’s someone coming into the building and stealing them Advice to landlord: I suggest them to fix the camera and get security for the building”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 5A Pros: The walls are thick so I'm rarely disturbed by sounds. The super is very responsive, as are the owners when needed, and the staff overall are friendly. Common areas are regularly cleaned, fixtures in the apartment are good. Neighbors are friendly. My apartment is really sunny - has both courtyard & street side windows so all rooms have good natural light. Cons: It is an old building so some things are less than perfect - elevator (although usually repaired quickly when an issue), there are some bugs (building provides regular extermination on request) and the appliances aren't brand new (doesn't bother me, might bother some!). I find the forced heat too warm in the winter (usually my apartment is in the 72-75 range) but I'm on an upper floor so maybe nothing to be done about that.”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 2A Pros: Very spacious and packages usually safe Cons: Garbage control is very loud and starts very early, owners feel non existent and so does super Advice to landlord: Be responsive!!”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Classic pre war details like mouldings and high ceilings. Decent neighbors in the building. Fairly spacious rooms. Cons: Signs that point to poor maintenance and possibly even structural issues like sagging floors, cracks in walls, and random creaking noises when nobody in the apartment or above it is moving. Elevator is ancient and small but surprisingly only broke once in the 2 years I lived there. No laundry in building and nearest laundromat is at least 6 mins away but the better one is 8 mins away. The owner tried to significantly raise rent on all units including rent stabilized ones after facade repairs were completed in order to recoup costs - not sure if he succeeded because tenants fought back and the action was still stalled by the time I left. Advice to landlord: Consider repairing floors and checking for structural issues.”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Relatively clean, elevator building, neighbors were quiet, decent sound isolation Cons: The apartment floor was completely slanted, holes in the walls led to mice constantly entering”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Location is good. Some of the other tenants are friendly. Cons: Constant problems with cockroaches - I'm talking five years and running, even with a spotless professionally cleaned apartment. The management is impossible to get ahold of (they never answer their phone or return messages) and we've gotten so many new supers over the years that I'm not even sure who the super is now. Their rent hikes are outrageous and common areas are not kept clean. Stairways smell of urine. Garbage area is full of rats. Advice to landlord: Be more responsive to your tenants - pick up the phone once in a while. Better pest management.”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Unit 2G Pros: Relatively clean, good heat. Cons: There was a mouse in my apartment. Hard to get in contact with landlord. Sent back security deposit late. Advice to landlord: Be more involved”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Great location, near subways, prospect park, good access to stores and restaurants Cons: Really unresponsive management, at least one bed bug infestation while we were there affecting ours and multiple other apartments. Super changed every month or so, never knew who to contact”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Super is very helpful and responsive, building is beautiful and apartment was spacious and seemed well maintained Cons: Roaches were a consistent problem as well as mice but they had pest control come bi-monthly”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Responsive super, lobby cleaned daily Cons: Neighbors have been evicted. Owners raising rents. Mediocre pest control.”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Overall a good building Cons: Had bed bugs a few times, but was able to deal with it”
— 699 OCEAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Walkable nabe and convenient to trains. Nice size apts and sweet super Cons: Lack of attention to details. See a cockroach ever few days. Offers biweekly extermination, but not reliable or convenient. Advice to landlord: Pay attention to the details. Give access to the roof, respond to calls, and offer other ways to pay rent”
