— 640 10 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: - Exposed brick - Verizon FiOS - Online rent payment/lease signing - Washer/Dryer in-unit - Target nearby Cons: I recommend looking at reviews of 642 10th Ave as well as they are both managed by the same company. The management is awful, selfish, unresponsive—overall horrible. I would not consider trading a W/D in-unit for the amount of BS tenants experience and don’t recommend you do so either. I made this mistake and don’t recommend renting any apartments managed by this company. There use to be more reviews here but probably scrubbed by management. - Major pest infestation in multiple units (really bad). Pretty bad in 642 too. - Garbage disposal is in the next building where you can mingle with your rat friends - Unresponsive management. You got an issue? Management are going to say they’re going to send someone out, but they aren’t going to solve shit and you’re going to be in an endless loop. Business hours only too and no number. Emails only so good luck trying to resolve a time-sensitive issue. - Loud street noise - Thin walls - Packages are always stolen. If your package didn’t get stolen this time, no worries they’ll get you next time. Building doesn’t have cameras so you’re on your own. - Brokers are rude and scammers. They are not responsible and it’s not worth dealing with them. They prey on applicants and do not recommend dealing with them for this apartment building. Do not believe them if they are applying pressure— general broker tip. - Did the Streeteasy listing say it’s in a HIP AND HAPPENING location? Area is pretty depressing. Sometimes, people sleep on the doorstep late at night so safety can be a concern. - Far from subways (~10 minutes). You can live in better quality and cheaper apartments that are closer. Trust me, this apartment really isn’t worth it. Advice to landlord: Scummy property owner will never change so don’t torture yourself by living here.”
— 644 10 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: It's got exposed brick, nice floors. Cons: Rats in the back in the garbage, the area is depressing, the building owners will send their supers to you if you complain only during the day during the week and when you inevitable are not there they will leave without trying to let you know they visited. Windows leak water during storms, packages are consistently stolen. A girl had her door broken down by an intruder and called me asking me if I could ring in the police. Since the building did not invest into a single camera, all of this goes unopposed. Advice to landlord: Tell your super to get a cell phone. Buy one or more CCTV cameras.”
