“Pros: It is a great location Cons: Management did not reply to any issues in a timely manner. The area with the laundry had a huge pest problem so many rats.”
— 508 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 10 Pros: the building is fine but the location is really what you’re paying for. I lived in a 3 bed and the third bed room was less than a wingspan wide and you could tell a wall was added there to make a three bed out of what should be a two bed. Cons: The laundry room is gross and equipment doesn’t work well. management is a mess and not very responsive.”
— 504 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Easy rent payment via online portal Cons: had a roach issue and the "pest control" came in with a can of Raid and sprayed all around apt. shocker - it did not help the issue.”
— 504 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 26 Pros: Good lobby, has laundry in building. Cons: Tons of rats in basement level near trash, old building, dated appliances Advice to landlord: Renovations are needed for most units”
— 508 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 6 Pros: Quiet, clean and respectful neighbors. Good soundproofing. Few issues with stolen packages. Cons: New management is unresponsive. Washers and dryers in building barely work and management does nothing to fix them. Unit on our floor had roach infestation for over a month that affected all units on floor.”
— 504 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: It was okay for a first apartment Cons: Giant leak in our bathroom, mice and cockroaches and tiny apartment”
— 504 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 4 Pros: Good location, good neighbors Cons: Awful management, huge amounts of maintenance issues (pests, holes in the walls/pipes, sink breaking, door not working, heat not working in winter, hot water not working), very unprofessional management and slow to fix issues Advice to landlord: Please update, renovate, and clean these apartments - they are filthy”
— 508 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 13 Pros: Wonderful location. Prime transit location, near Target and Trader Joes. Good restaurants and coffee shops. Cons: Moved in here in 2021 to a gas leak the landlord insisted did not exist. Called Con-Ed on three separate occasions to have them turn off the gas. When we first reported the gas leak, the landlord said we weren't smelling gas and then didn't address the issue until Con Ed came and detected gas, which was leaking from the oven. Management then came to replace the oven, breaking the gas connection in the new oven and causing yet another leak. Called Con Ed again and the fire department. Unfortunately, when we told management we lived with a persistent leak for almost two months, they said we would still have to pay rent, no concessions. It was back and forth with management for a few months, with no luck at the end, spending extra money on food we had to buy because we didn't have a working oven and throwing hundreds of dollars away because the food that needed a working oven or stove obviously went bad. When they would mop the marble stairs, they wouldn't put wet floor signs outside, so you'd almost die walking down the stairs. Aside from management being terrible (I believe the building is under new, yet still bad management), the neighbor downstairs smoked in her apartment which seeped up through our floors. This neighbor also definitely abused her dog and constantly was yelling and crying in and around her apartment. Trash area infested with rats. We had a few cockroaches that management never came and sprayed for. Washer and Dryers were disgusting and hardly worked. Overall, if you can afford even an extra $100-200 more on an apartment, look anywhere else. We learned a good lesson in apartment hunting, and luckily we got out of this terrible building because they hiked our rent, while we were already paying too much for such a dump. Advice to landlord: Tear down the building and put something better here, this place is a total dump and no one should have to live in such horrid conditions.”
— 504 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: I personally haven’t had any huge issues, however, getting a hold of anyone at management is close to impossible. Cons: The super never answers their phone Advice to landlord: Be more responsive”
— 508 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: decent responsiveness to issues nice neighbors Cons: gets really hot because radiators break easily also ants coming in through window owned by jared kushner Advice to landlord: stop jacking up rent”
— 508 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Daily trash taken out. Quiet apartment for back units. Cons: Very poor management company, problems patched never fixed. Heat off when it’s cold and on when it’s warm. Advice to landlord: Fix your management company!”
— 504 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great location, close to the L train Cons: Rats in the laundry area for a lot of our stay, no gas service for the last 3 months we lived here, management unresponsive”
— 504 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: location, modern bathroom Cons: everything broke starting day 1 Advice to landlord: fix the issues instead of putting a “bandaid on them””
— 504 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great location, close proximity to L train, beautiful brick walls in bedrooms, large closets, decent hardwood floors. Cons: Building management is just awful (Westminster City Living), apartment was in horrible (unlivable) condition upon moving in, tiny apartment for overly high price, small kitchen with virtually no counter space and no drawers, bathroom has been poorly kept, water pressure is low (kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and toilet — shower is okay), laundry machines only sometimes work, trash management is substandard (so many rats in the outdoor trash area), don’t break anything because it won’t get fixed or will be broken worse in attempt to repair by super. Take it from someone who read the reviews on this management company before moving in and decided to ignore the red flags. Westminster is among the worst management companies out there. And the above list goes on…save your money and time and find a better apartment with a management company that cares at all for the health and well-being of its tenants. Advice to landlord: Seriously don’t even know where to start with advice. Replace current property owner with someone who at least cares and provides basic/necessary repairs in line with tenants’ requests? Maybe a good start.”
— 504 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: I have really nothing good to say about the building other than the location can be cool Cons: The super did not respond to anything ever. In a year he showed up once after a huge leak through the window and just said I should put towels down and left. The one other time he responded he just sent me a YouTube link to fix something myself. Management will never respond to anything ever as well. They also failed to inform us they let an incredibly loud gym move into the leased space and we were woken up as early as 5am almost every morning for months. The trash situation is terrible there’s rats everywhere down there and the dryers don’t work at all after I chose this building because of it having laundry. It’s also incredibly overpriced save your money. They also failed to turn on heat for large parts of the winter until multiple people complained. The windows had no locks our entire lease presenting a huge safety issue and there was a lot of water damage when we moved in”
— 508 EAST 12 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: There are none Cons: Dirty. Mice in the laundry room. Property manager never addresses any concerns. Advice to landlord: Be more receptive to tenant concerns”
