“Pros: New apartment Reasonable pricing The supers are quick/great Cons: - 21st and 8th is a warzone. The deli downstairs has shady personel selling drugs, blasting music, and crazies yelling throughout the night and threatening violence. Police are there regularly and don't do anything, it's unsafe and every so often there's an issue with someone getting in the building. The deli staff is in on it somehow I'm convinced and often see employees trading cash with the rabble-rousers. Seriously this is the building in the photo: https://chelseacommunitynews.com/2024/06/17/officers-often-assigned-to-problematic-corner-transferred-council-member-bottcher-convenes-with-city-agencies-nypd-at-21st-8th/ - Trash room is gross, when the door gets left open by the neighbors there's rats. - Packages stolen frequently, delivery men refuse to use the mailroom despite instructions on packages. Advice to landlord: Kick out the Deli owner on 1st floor as a tenant, he's clearly facilitating illicit activity in broad daylight”
— 209 8 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: - Beautiful unit with modern finishes - AC works beautifully - Elevator in building - Virtual doorman system works great - Laundry/dryer combo works - Super is great - maintenance requests are fulfilled promptly - Great location.. A/C/E/L/1 are all very close - West side highway access easy Cons: - Little to no move in instruction/procedure (did not know where the trash room was, package room code was not shared, courier delivery procedure, etc) - Management does not respond to emails. Calling seems to work. - Unit was "dirty" upon arrival (toenails, hair, grease, etc)... I spent around 4 hours deep cleaning before I felt comfortable. Advice to landlord: Respond to emails, disclose more move in instruction, if you say you're going to clean the unit prior to move in, clean it. Otherwise, I've had a great experience.”
— 209 8 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Maintenance is done quickly by the super but he doesn’t actually live here. Cons: Lots of package theft, homeless break in a lot, no noise control between apartment vertically you hear everything. Pretty young tenants averaging early 20s and lots of parties”
— 209 8 AVENUE · Manhattan“Unit 43 Pros: Decent location, super is mostly helpful Cons: Too expensive for what you get. 2 bedroom apartment is the size of a large studio”
— 209 8 AVENUE · Manhattan“Unit 21 Pros: It was a decent, relatively-affordable rental building in Chelsea. Cons: The building was sold to new owners that booted all the tenants - renovated the units and jacked up the rents. The new owners kept the first floor Deli tenant that rather openly deals drugs out of their store front. This created a variety of security issues. Advice to landlord: Get rid of the Deli!”
— 209 8 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Beautiful old building, high ceilings, good closets. Cons: Neighborhood has gotten crazy and landlord isn’t very responsive to tenant safety concerns. Packages are stolen constantly. Super is useless. Small repairs take forever. Appliances go out and it’s tenant responsibility or you go without. Wayyyy over priced for what it is. And will find something small wrong with your credit to insist on multiple months of deposits.”
