“Unit 4D Pros: new appliances. lots of natural light, huge windows. central A/C. bathtub and kitchen sink were extra deep. electric stove and built in microwave. rooftop access. pet friendly. Cons: studio apartments are ridiculously small and overpriced. fridge started leaking within first month of living there. video intercom stopped working and no one was able to fix it. heat fixture in bathroom broke and almost started a fire. A/C had to be repaired multiple times. Had to replace the smoke detectors multiple times. Didn't have hot water for over 1 month, department of health had to come and do an inspection. after that, water was scalding hot for next 6 months. non-responsive management. super changed twice in the year I was there. garbage management is horrendous and department of sanitation was writing tickets every week. blood and feces on staircases/hallway walls for weeks on end. packages stolen constantly. laundry machines were never installed on the 4th floor even though it was advertised as having laundry on every floor. I would avoid at all costs.”
— 2033 1 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: newly renovated, monthly exterminator, no pests, central air and heat, good water pressure, incredible water heat, mail pretty secure, super and building manager are very nice! Cons: lots of front door malfunctions, washers and dryers only on 2 floors instead of promised all. TOLIET SEAT IS CHEAP AND BREAKS AFTER A FEW MONTHS Advice to landlord: hire a super that is a handyman. send correctly updated billing statements. listen to the tenants.”
— 2033 1 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: It’s been recently renovated so the units and building itself are very modern and nice. Everyone in the building is the first tenant in their unit as of 2021. There’s in-house washers and dryers on every other floor. The roof access is nice. Most tenants are pretty young and chill. We also have security now for our packages because we had a lot of issues with packages getting “handed directly to a resident” but the packages were never there. Cons: It’s a hit or miss if the landlord responds to you within a reasonable timeframe, if he does at all. It took a few months to get my electrical outlets fixed (I had two functioning outlets, a total of 4 sockets in my entire apartment). The hallway also gets dirty quickly from people’s pets or garbage bags dripping which is annoying. Trash bins are outside right beside the door which lets a bunch of flies into the stairwell. Advice to landlord: Respond to your tenants when they text or email. Get the super to clean the stairwell and front hallway regularly. Invest in fly tape or something. Put more furniture on the roof (we have 3 chairs up there but us neighbors like to actually hang out together up there and there are more than three of us)”
