“Unit 1 Pros: Huge spacious apartments. Dishwasher and laundry in apartment, but landlord claims no responsibility despite it saying they are provided in the lease. Cons: The landlord does the bare minimum to maintain the apartment. Everything is very old and improperly architected to sustain any sort of longevity. The oven has been broken for a month despite only needing a simple fix. The microwave is dangerous and falling apart, literally pieces fall onto the stove every time we open it. They spent 3 weeks replacing a hazardous HVAC system only to realize that the building’s ventilation can’t support the new system. It turns on and off unpredictably and the climate in the apartment is very hot, then very cold. Great investment! Advice to landlord: Fix the appliances and keep a liveable apartment. Don’t act ignorant and petty when tenants reasonably expect a liveable home.”

“Unit 3 Pros: Large Space. Large Kitchen. Pet Friendly. Cons: Malicious and neglectful landlords and owner that shirk responsibility but are very prompt about collecting rent. I'm talking broken locks, exposed wiring, furniture left from previous tenants (that also were clearly screwed over by the landlord, because they wrecked the place on the way out), trash going unaddressed for weeks. Advice to landlord: Do your job or quit. I hope the city comes after you”

“Pros: Decent location and backyard area. Maintenance workers are kind. Cons: When we moved in, they hadn’t finished moving out the previous tenant. We were left to clean the place which, at that point, meant a significant amount of trash and a kitchen full of food and dishes. When we informed the landlord, she offered us $25 in cash to “pay for cleaners”. There were damages to the walls, floors and appliances upon moving in. Paint on the floor, despite walls not being painted after the previous tenant left. Which made them our responsibility based on the lease. Oh, and the walls? The walls are paper thin. Hope you like your neighbors. Every “fix” the management company had created another issue. They would dodge calls and repair requests whenever possible until legal action was threatened. Lastly, roaches. Lots of them. Like, many. They eventually sent someone out monthly, but it never made a difference. Wouldn’t recommend this place to an enemy, let alone a friend. Oh, and don’t let them bully you into a two year lease at the last minute. The person who was leading our apartment dropped that on us when we were meeting to sign the one year lease and raised the price on the spot (along with a “finder’s fee”). Advice to landlord: Learn how to do your job. Pick up the phone. Good luck when the city comes investigating.”

“Unit 1 Pros: A lot of space in the unit which is hard to find in nyc Cons: We are in the first floor unit and have many cockroaches. The exterminator comes once a week, but I find a few every morning that I need to kill. Additionally, we have had a number of leaks over our 2 year stay. Management eventually fixes them, but they are not ideal Advice to landlord: Bug bomb the whole unit to get rid of roaches”

“Pros: I don’t think stuff broke down much. Place was huge and had a big backyard. Got my whole security deposit back. Cons: Noise between apartments and rooms were bad. Very badly insulated. They also raised the rent pretty significantly each year. We only needed a repairman a couple times, pretty decent, but they sent someone who did a really shoddy plumbing job and has to come back multiple times. Im talking TAPED a pipe in place Advice to landlord: Hire better contractors for repairs. Get better insulation between walls (like add more drywall)”
