“Pros: The super has been great and very responsive for any quick fixes. The apartment has nice charm inside. Cons: Hallways are not always the cleanest. Trash is left out from other tenants over the weekend with cans and bottles strewn around. Only paper recycling.”
— 174 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Responsive landlord Great location Affordable Cons: Super loud (first floor) No light in the living room Heaters did not work, wore large coats in the house in the winter”
— 174 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Great area, big living room Cons: Mouse problem with unresponsive and unhelpful management, bathroom with drain issues that was old and disgusting, roaches Advice to landlord: Renovate the units”
— 174 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: The building is relatively well maintained, and I experienced no major issues in the two years I lived in this building. Cons: The only thing I noticed was mice on the ground levels. I lived on a higher floor and never saw any evidence of mice in my unit.”
— 176 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Unit 3B Pros: Nice apartments, great location, good neighbors Cons: Management was pretty unresponsive.”
— 174 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: The location is wonderful & close to 3 different subway lines! We’re on the 4th floor and get a decent amount of natural light. Cons: Our apartment had mice & it took them 6 months to resolve the issue. Management is very unresponsive & out dated. The only way to reach them is by phone & we have to mail our rent checks (what is this the 1900s). The radiators are blasted all winter & we’re forced to keep our windows open. They raised our rent by 25% last year and then had the audacity to claim it was due to gas prices increasing. The building is not kept very tidy and is pretty grimy. It’s an east village apartment so expect lots of both street noise as well as tenant noise.”
— 174 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Location is great, apartments are spacious (especially for the neighborhood) Cons: Rodents (mice, roaches); For 4th floor: roof needs replacing so during rainstorms there will be leaks. Building did send roofing company who said no way to completely fix without entirely new roof, which building wouldn’t be doing. Advice to landlord: Pest control, roof, cleanliness in stairwell”
— 174 2 AVENUE · Manhattan“Pros: Lived in a 3bedroom unit here and had no major complaints. The management and super were responsive when things broke (which included a broken sink drain and a front lock that fell apart). Soundproofing was excellent and never heard any of our neighbors. Cons: The common spaces weren't cleaned regularly and I ended up cleaning up the hallway a few times after dust/dirt was spilled. Never got terribly dirty however. Hot water was sometimes scarce during weekday mornings and we had the boiler go down a couple times during our 1yr lease. Advice to landlord: Mop the floors!”
