“Pros: I like the neighbors Cons: The landlord has allowed persistent leaks to progress for years. There are ongoing pest problems that the landlord has not been addressing”

“Pros: The people who live in the building are very friendly and kind. Cons: Leak from the roof through the 4th floor, 3rd floor, and now 2nd floor ceilings. Pest issues, unable to access electricity meters, very old unvented heaters. Hallways and stairways are dirty and unmaintained, poor ventilation throughout. You can see more detailed issues through the records of lawsuits involving past tenants through the Kings County clerk. Building (or some units) were rent stabilized for 2 years according to HPD records and inexplicably destabilized. Advice to landlord: Fix the many issues and hire a super that lives nearby.”

“Pros: Huge bedrooms - lots of space; very close to the subway Cons: Building was not clean; issues with roaches; not responsive landlord (the front door was broken for 6 months); very thin walls between floors.”

“Pros: I lived there for a over decade so I can speak on this. Neighbors are always a revolving door so can’t really speak on that. Though the few that stayed a lil while were pleasant. I had a bad roach problem and mice problem that would come down that beautiful brick fireplace. The mice would come under the door as well and would run across my stove. Landlord did nothing. Cons: Landlord will not refund deposit. He gives you a runaround and will ignore your efforts. I had to try through the courts. I still have yet to receive it and I’ve been gone over a year. He is not trust worthy and is driven on money. Lease is increased every year and one year he tried to raise my rent hundreds of dollars. Mind you I was the only consistent tenant in the building. It’s not a horrible apartment as it does have character outside the pest issue however management sucks. Advice to landlord: Do right by your tenants and stop being an ass”

“Pros: close to train Cons: filthy, terrrible management”

“Unit 4F Pros: very close to the subway, laundry, and grocery. large apartments with hardwood floors and exposed brick. accessible rooftop, with great views. Cons: the landlord does not fix much and there is plenty that needs fixing. some roaches, lots of garbage out front. building door does not work. mailboxes are easy to open without key. ceilings leak. landlord often does not pay bills for the building (gas for hot water/electric for public spaces) and the utility companies start harassing tenants. Advice to landlord: invest some money back into the building and respond to tenants”
