— 111 WEST 16 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great neighbors, clean, live-in super is great. Breaks (pipes, heat, etc.) are tended to quickly Cons: if you're facing street-side, it's incredibly loud. rent increased 146% in 2 years. Management difficult to reach in office.”
— 111 WEST 16 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Nice super and family, laundry in building, super cleans with what they are given. Cons: Looking run down over the years management could paint the hallways, clean the floors. Easy fixes. Washers and dryers take too long to fix. Water pipe burst in the lobby last year they have a piece of cardboard covering the hole in the ceiling. Fix it. Advice to landlord: Take care of the building better.”
— 111 WEST 16 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: The location is GREAT. It’s in the heart of Manhattan, with access to all major subway stations, Trader Joe’s, Washington Square Park, and etc. Cons: I’ve been living in NYC for awhile now so I understand that there are some things that might be difficult for management to address, such as old plumbing and cockroaches, but what could have helped was a little more communication and resourcefulness from them. The management’s assistant was extremely responsive and friendly, but the actual help from the super or the landlord would be severely delayed or lackluster. I know for a fact that they didn’t help tenants because during the pandemic, a neighbor mentioned to me that they had requested rent relief but management was pretty strict in sticking to their contract, whether the world was in a pandemic or not. It’s funny because I recently learned about another neighbor who had been living there for a long time but was severely behind with their rent payments. Not sure why some tenants were forgiven while others were not, especially during a pandemic? The environment had become quite intense during the pandemic as well because I remember some neighbors who lived above me would have such loud public fights that even the cops had to come to intervene. I couldn’t sleep at all at night and I made sure that my doors were locked at all times. Advice to landlord: If you’re not able to provide immediate help, at least let tenants know what their options are or how you can best help them. Even if something is in progress, letting them know of your progress will be incredibly helpful. Ignoring requests or just shrugging your shoulders are not helpful at all.”
— 111 WEST 16 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Good location, Functional layouts, laundry in basement (when it’s working) Cons: There is the occasional mouse or roach which is not great. The super and management are not very responsive. The building could be a lot better maintained. Advice to landlord: Take better care of the building, have a more active super, be more diligent about extermination services and cleaning”
— 111 WEST 16 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Thick walls (can't hear loud parties or music when inside apartment, even if they can be heard from hallway). Super in building. Cons: Packages get stolen from time to time. The street is closed during parades (halloween, pride, etc) so plan to either be out all day or in all day on those days, otherwise it's hard to get access. Issue with mice. Building is old and not well maintained. Advice to landlord: Bring the laundry room up to code and open it back up.”
