“Pros: Location - character - laundry in building - responsive landlord Cons: Trash get full VERY fast and sometimes it flows into the halls”
— 111 EAST 7 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 77 Pros: Great sunlight on the higher floors, elevator, common spaces kept pretty clean (though trash area got overrun often), laundry in building, unit was decently maintained. Cons: I had pests and was told I needed to wait until the once-monthly pest management... which meant I was expected to live with mice for 3 and a half weeks. My dishwasher did not work once in the 2 years I lived here because I could never contact someone to fix it. Once I got locked IN my apartment because my front door handle broke and I could not get in contact with anyone to fix it. I had to call a locksmith who charged $400, which the management refused to refund me, even with a receipt that included a letter that stated the problem was due to poor maintenence and a faulty door handle. Many of my packages would get stolen because people would buzz anyone in, and when I asked management if they could possibly install a camera in the lobby, they told me that was not their responsibility. The management was terrible here and we had many supers over the 2 years I lived here. They would not tell you when there was a new super and it was almost impossible to get in contact with the supers or the management at any point. Also, I got stuck in the elevator probably 15 times over 2 years. Luckily, it could usually be fixed without calling someone. Advice to landlord: Pick up the phone. Communicate with tenants. Do your job.”
— 111 EAST 7 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 45 Pros: Really solid apartments for a great price. Pretty sure its standardized so you can get a lot of good deals. the location is absolutely prime east village but secluded enough that you feel separated from the chaos in the area Cons: The aesthetic of the entryway and hallways are not great, but don't reflect on the actual apartments. Elevator sucks and constantly breaks, but in EV having a semi functional elevator is huge!”
“Pros: great location, updated appliances Cons: tiny apartments, lots of pest issues (mice and roaches), basically did not turn on the heat in the winter”
— 111 EAST 7 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Rent stabilized units with washer and dryer in building Cons: building is infested with mice and roaches (in apartments and common areas), elevator is constantly out of service and management is nonexistent.”
— 111 EAST 7 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Central location is amazing but is basically the only redeemable aspect. Cons: The appliances are baby sized and the apartment is a tiny shoebox. Thats what you get in the EV i guess Advice to landlord: Make the heat easier to control . Its unbearably hot”
— 111 EAST 7 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Minimal noise, pretty views, small but mighty elevator. The laundry room in the basement is amazing. Several units, including mine, don’t share walls with other units and have really great light in every room. Rent stabilized! I have lived here for many years and will be sad when I move out one day! Cons: If you want something done, you sometimes have to be persistent for them to complete repairs, but everything has gotten fixed. Also, lobby and basement are shared with neighboring restaurant which used to be frustrating, but it is hardly an issue anymore. Sometimes the buzzer doesn’t work, but it usually does.”
