“Unit 2D Pros: Loved the rent stabilized rents, the great neighbors, and the location. Cons: Management VERY difficult to track down for repairs.”
— 1016 PRESIDENT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Water pressure was good, neighbors were friendly, clean hallways. Cons: Old building with small garbage disposal near sidewalk which meant rats lurking every night. But they never got inside the building.”
— 1016 PRESIDENT STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: The proximity to the 2,3,4,5, S is unmatched. The neighborhood has everything you’ll need within a few blocks. It’s a great neighborhood, truly! So the fact that the building is there is great. Rent stabilized. Cons: I’m not sure where to start. Your packages will be stolen unless you’re able to intercept the delivery folks, this is just a fact. They will never invest in cameras so try sending your valuables elsewhere. The building doesn’t have its own super and the one they do have is overworked and responsible for most of the buildings in their portfolio. This means it’s rarely cleaned, the floors are always dirty with trash everywhere and this is made worse by the fact that this is a pet friendly building. Sometimes neighbors’ dogs relieve themselves in the hallways and they leave it. The newly renovated units have shoddy construction… they have been paying for years to upgrade things in my apartment when it just made sense to do it right in the first place. The noise levels are off the charts you will hear EVERYTHING, if you’re a light sleeper this building is not for you. There are rodents, this is a known issue, you will be living with mice. The most they can do at this point is seal your apartment so that they don’t enter under doors or through the electrical sockets. The management is responsive mostly but only to certain tenants which is sad. Some of your neighbors struggle with addiction and are probably in subsidized units which means they are not prioritized by the management company. Renters beware, it is reasonably priced for the area because it’s not a great place to live. If you can afford slightly more there are better units close by. Advice to landlord: Invest in daily cleanings of the building, find a permanent fix to the mice issue. Replace the boiler during warmer months … it breaks every winter.”
“Pros: Proximity to transport + everything you’d need in walking distance Cons: Rats, crappy construction... constantly need things fixed. Found two mice in here. Cheap inefficient labor, management flat out ignores my emails. No designated super so the building is rarely cleaned and it’s a pet friendly building so it just stinks to be honest, packages always being stolen & no cameras installed. Advice to landlord: Hire a designated super for this building, establish good workers to do odd jobs (it’ll cost you less long term if things are done properly), fix the boiler!!!!”
