Of all the apartments and apartment buildings we've lived in, this is by far our favorite. The building is beautiful, and though we moved in during a time of construction and renovation, we never felt as though we were inconvenienced and the work completed very quickly. The staff are always helpful and friendly -- they always greet us when we come home, and wish us a nice day when we leave. The front desk staff make us feel safe and secure as guests and deliveries are always announced. For such a large building, our apartment is often times pin-drop quiet to noise from our neighbors, and the city windows definitely mute out the noise of 6th Avenue. Everything about The Capitol is convenient: the location is ideal, the neighborhood has everything you need, and the building has updated amenities like gym, laundry, and residents' lounge. The on-site valet is great and friendly as well and keeps our packages secure, though I wish the hours of operation were extended to nights and weekends. Overall, this is an excellent building that we'd highly recommend to anyone!

The building used to be great 2 years ago. Now they're updating EVERYTHING - which ends up BREAKING everything. Elevators never work, there is constant noise from construction (don't move here if you ever work from home bc I can't get 1 call in during 9-5 hours right now), we have had cockroaches and the building has been non-responsive at sending pest control (they either won't respond for wks or they say pest control is on their way and they never show). To top everything off the water completely shut off this morning and everyone had to go to work unshowered. DO NOT MOVE HERE UNTIL THEY FINISH ALL THE UPDATES. The prices may be lower then other buildings but there is a reason for it.

The manager office doesnt care about your issues with elevators or cockroaches. They will charge high end prices and ask you deal with living in a construction site. The roof deck was great for the four months I had access to it. But then it was closed after we were told it would be open.

Moved into the building without being told about the scaffolding work, elevator renovation or lobby renovation. All the work started within a few months of our lease and I felt pretty deceived by the leasing office. I have also heard the sales agents in the elevators will tell "half-truths" to prospective tenants about the timeline and condition of the work

I love the staff and the location of the building. Since I've been a resident there has been a lot of construction which has been frustrating at times, but I feel like it will all be worth it in the end. Also, one of the biggest draws to the apartment was the roof patio - which is one of the greatest views of NYC I have ever seen. However, the roof had to be shut down for the entire summer of 2018 because of a NYC inspection which was a huge disappointment. Overall though, we are very happy with our stay here and have recommended this apartment to many of our closest friends looking for new apartments to live in.

If not for the convenience in location, I would've moved out within the first year. The brand new roof was supposed to remain open before failing to meet city inspections and will be shut down throughout this summer - one of the main reasons I moved into this building. The staff is terribly unprofessional in its communication of scheduled building repairs and also in its communication with residents. The noise pollution is so unbearable that many residents have already moved out if not plan to do so within the year. Don't move here! Unless you have thousands of dollars to throw away every month.

I have lived in 5 buildings in New York city and this is by far the worst. Since moving on a year ago they have torn up the lobby, gym, rooftop, individual floors, and elevators. There are 300 apartments and I have never experienced having all 4 elevators working at the same time. I have also experienced 20+ times where I have waited between 10 and 20 minutes for an elevator to get to my floor. This would be bearable if the management company didn't also decide to gut renovate the ENTIRE building while they also update the elevators. They moved the package room and have workers using the elevators causing more elevator congestion and creating a frustrating environment. I would recommend anyone who is looking at this apartment to look elsewhere. While the renovations are going on we continuously get updates about dust disrupting the elevators (something a smart management company would have thought of). I have also overheard multiple current residents complain about all of these issues and are just as unhappy as I am. The Capitol at Chelsea and Bozzuto management seemingly decided to renovate every aspect of an 18 year old building with absolutely no plan or foresight into issues that could arise and the pain and anger they would cause their residents. If there was some way for me to take legal action against them I would.

Management still trying to raise rents even though elevators are always out of service (I’ve waited over 30 minutes during the morning rush) and rooftop is closed this entire year. Wait until all of the renovation work is done! Not worth the price today

Do not move in here. The building is and will be under serious renovations for over a year (I.e. until 2020). Average wait time for an elevator, even during off peak hours is about 7 minutes. They are re-doing all the hallways (which now look like a holiday inn), the roof deck is not accessible for all of 2018, and the overall communication for all of the renovations is extremely poor. Your rent will include all the amenities that you won’t have access to. I would highly suggest you look elsewhere. There are 5 other, much better buildings nearby.

It's been an experience living at The Capitol. The amount of construction is insane! Not only does it take about 15 minutes (at peak times) for an elevator, there is usually only one elevator operating due to "maintenance" There is an aggressive construction plan to relocate the entrance, reconstruct the lounge level and hallways all at the same time. Management has not improved communications or the overall experience and have done nothing but "apologize for the inconvenience" Renter beware! Prices are still skyrocketing regardless of the poor experience.
