We had a hellish experience in this Section 8 dog run masquerading as a luxury apartment Our child was charged by 2 aggressive dogs off leash and it scared him to death. We were charged 5-6 times over the years and the building did nothing except write 2 letters to the dog owners. The building constantly tried to position this as a tenant to tenant dispute when it was a case of depraved indifference by the dog owners, the management companies (3 of then, all cowards) and the building owners. The elevators never worked properly from the start and replacement 5-6 years ago didn’t solve the problem. Compensation for 15 years of this and approx 6-7 years of tge dogs debacle was one $10 Starbucks gift card. If you like section 8 tenants scrawling on walls, smoking in stairwells, and dropping f-bombs in the lobby in front of your children, this is the building for you. I went hoarse screaming at management over the last dog incident. They’re sociopaths. There’s new management, but after experiencing 3 nyc property management firms I believe 99% of nyc real estate people are revolting human beings. Dog owners run the place. I had a white 20 something woman’s dog jump on me and put his paws on my incision 4 weeks after abdominal surgery. It happened bc the lobby was backed up w people waiting for the one elevator working at 6 pm on a Friday night. T was also fun to be threatened in the lobby when I told a large woman from uptown to stop dropping f bombs in the lobby. The doorman called the cops. The mother of the teen resident who invited the fat profane guest was called. She had left her son alone and he brought his thuggish friends in for a party. The mother didn’t chastise the son. She tried to attack me and the cops dragged her out. Months later she saw me in the lobby and started berating me. I backed up to the desk to ask the doorman are you seeing and hearing this? He said yes. The super arrived and AGAIN cast this as a tenant to tenant dispute when his employee told him she attacked me verbally at 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon. The super told me to write up my version. I told the super to go to h—. He’s an Irish guy, gone to a different building, and we got along, even after this incident. I’m just getting warmed up. There were MANY more dog incidents, including a neighbor who moved out after being charged and a beloved maintenance guy who told me confidentially that the dogs charged him and scared him to death. Until recently I was on the building’s email list. In July or so they sent an email saying that people were throwing garbage out of windows and that such garbage was landing on outdoor space some apartments on the 7th floor enjoy River East is a Section 8 grift and dog park masquerading as a luxury building. It’s hell unless you’re an inconsiderate dog owner, a section 8 beneficiary, or a glutton who likes paying $5800 to walk 20+ floors multiple times per year when the elevators blow up

Nice enough building at first look. once in, you find the finishes are very cheap. the maintenance is purely to keep things moving along. Poor building management overall Look before you rent here. the elevators are under engineered for the size of the building. many elevator break downs or used by staff for building tasks that should be done off hours only.

I highly recommend RiverEast to anyone moving to NYC or looking for a new place in NYC. It’s such a great place to reside in, the staff are kind, helpful and approachable. The location is great and the building is so clean, calm and quiet. Maintenance request are tackled promptly and professionally. I definitely recommend RiverEast with no reservations! P.S. I’m planning to add this positive feedback (with an improved narrative) in Google upon ending my lease -for privacy reasons- and this is the least I can do for such an amazing living experience at RiverEast!

community is good . I just hope that rivereast goes back in time and be as it was when they first open it up , clean, consistency and luxurious. That they get a handyman capable of fixing things correctly
