It's really sad how this complex has deteriorated, but honestly it never lived up to its potential on my 5 years here. Strongly advise against joining if you are in market for luxury rental. This is definitely pitched and charging luxury for significantly mid tier. Just walk into the lobby and you'll see the non existent design. Don't let them tell you it's under construction, it's been like this for almost a year. The rooftop has been closed for my entire tenure despite promises it would be opening months after my arrival. Finally the gym is buried in an unclean basement where the main equipment is broken. There are no maintenance crew cleaning it either. The street is also a mess, constantly you will be dealing with drug addicts shooting up basically on the doorstep. It’s unsafe at times. Best I can say is that the noise protection on the unit is great, the hvac is mostly reliable, and David on maintenance is their best employee.

Don't be fooled by the high prices. The building is a dump. No security, no maintenance, and the management is mean. You will get better paying half the price elsewhere. It's the furthest thing from luxury.

Good luck getting your security deposit back. I moved out at the end of November 2020 and received the all clear on the move out inspection. I have been battling with the property since then. I have received nothing but excuses that it is “in process” for four months now.

Both elevators down again , every other month, walking down 37 flights of stairs is not fun , poor management , still have 5 or more illegal airbnb and apartments rented out to people not on the lease , you ever know who is staying here at Hotel Icon .. we where lied to about them when we asked about them before we signed our lease , neighbor slams the door all the time when they come on and out and shakes the pictures on the wall, nice staff working the building .. can not say much about my neighbors since we do not know lives here or who is here on vacation :( rent is reduced to get you in , then goes up a lot once your renew .. beware !!

We lived here for six weeks in the winter of 2015. amazing views - we were in 32b so looking out at the Hudson River on one side, south straight down 8th on the other. Both living room and bedroom are all glass on two walls, floor to ceiling windows. At night, or weather rolling in, it's sweet, never had a guest that didn't say wow when walking in. Top notch apartment building. It's newer than most we looked at so everything is new inside and works great. Nice kitchen, modern appliances, open to living room. HVAC is very good, heat can be shut off by noon in winter, sunshine comes blasting in. Windows that open and seal tight. Thick walls so it's quiet. Nice bathroom, always hot water and lots of it. Very fast wifi, fiber optic I believe. Fast elevator, nice gym in basement, roof top patio with views of Statue of Liberty, need binoculars but it's there. In unit washer dryer was a nice convenience but small loads and slow or laundry in basement. Professional doorman, nice and helpful too. Kitchen is modern, granite, lots of cabinet space and a pantry, gas range, big fridge, good dishwasher and built in microwave. Near Times Square but not right there which we liked. Still hear taxis horns, sirens and the occasional jack hammer. We liked the closeness to Hell's Kitchen and 9th ave. Every ethnic restaurant you could want, barbershops, lots of grocery stores - food emporium and westerlys were our faves, hardware store, etc - a real residential neighborhood that is fun and safe. Subways are close. A great apt.
