It’s funny how everyone seems to love living here or hate it. The newly renovated apartments are fairly nice, but not luxury in any way. Very cheap materials and poor construction (visible seams in walls, chipped corners that should have been repaired, all the electric outlets are loose, shower handle installed backwards, etc.). Because it is new, it looks okay. Elevators and hallway walls look shabby. We chose MP over other buildings because these apartments have much more storage than similar sized apartments in other buildings on the island. Repairs are always a hassle and require multiple requests. We’ve needed both AC units, the toilet flush, the dishwasher, the shower handle, a sink drain, and a ceiling leak fixed. That’s a lot of repairs for 2 years. Only the toilet flush was fixed first try. Sink drain never was fixed. Most repairs required 3 or 4 attempts. Usually the person who arrives got zero instructions from the maintenance department and we have to explain what is broken. We don’t have anyone come unless we are home, because otherwise who knows what would happen. Laundry room is gross — water leaks under machines and soaks the dirty mats in front of the machines. It smells like mold or mildew. Machines are never cleaned and there are often lots of flies. Whole room is being shut down for a week and a half because a new company is taking over, but unless the building takes better care of the room, it won’t matter. Staff interactions are hit or miss. Some people are very friendly and helpful but most are not. One of our main doormen can never answer even basic questions and talks on his phone ALL the time, can’t find packages, etc. The AC repair guy literally grunts when you ask him a question and lied to my face about not being able to do a repair the previous day because no one was home (we were working from home all day). I can also confirm that Brian promises to follow up with you on an issue, he will not. Overall we get the feeling that the people who run the building really don’t care about tenants. A good example of that was how construction and window repairs were handled (see other people’s reviews.)

Roosevelt island is a good place with quiet environment, and also a place in NYC to get away from the city crowd. However I would not recommend Manhattan Park to be the place to reside in here. If you look for a luxury building, try octagons. And the single reason for me not recommending this place is because of the manager Brian Weisberg, the least decent human being I have ever encountered. I believe being a terrible manager is one of the last things he need to correct with in his life. He seems purely a person lack of respect, responsibility and honesty. Other employees in the buildings are nice, I think most time they want to approach your concerns, they want to give you help, but the single reason they didn't or they will not is because of their manager. When I was negotiating with him on reserving an elevator on Friday for moving out one month earlier before my lease end, he simply refused me and told me I cannot do that because that is forbidden on my lease. He ignored the fact I was trying to tell him I will continue paying my rent after me moving out for the last month. He shouted at me say he will call the police if I am still at his office door. I went back home, read the lease, called the leasing office, and I was told by their own employee, who are kind enough, that I am allowed to do that and I get my elevator reserved. I have been living in many buildings in NYC and JC, this is the worst manager I have ever encountered. Not worth the rent

We it actually wouldn’t let me put how long I’ve lived here ... since 1991. I’ve moved around a little and this is my 3rd apartment here. I LOVE my apartment, I LOVE the view and anytime I post something on FB that shows my view in the background people from all over world comment on my amazing beautiful view. When ever there has been a problem the management has always worked with us to resolve it. If I could I would buy this apartment!!! I’ve been here long enough to have seen some beloved staff retire and a few that I kept in touch with because they became friends. They were replaced by terrific people and I am grateful for their help and kindness over the years. My children grew up here and it was the best neighborhood in NYC to grow up for it’s diversity and Saftey and parks and programs. Manhattan Park is a community minded organization and they quietly support the community. The building renovation period was a little unpleasant but the results are fantastic. Highly recommended Roosvelt Island and highly recommend Manhattan Park.

I really really want to love this place, I've been enjoying the community, the price and the amenities for the past 8 months. However today a tragic event happened that made me have to give out a one-star-review. You may think I'm exaggerating, but please read: The entire world is under a COVID-19 situation. Out of all the cities in the US, New York City is the most severely affected. Until 4/24/2020, there is a total of 904,581 diagnosed cases all across America and the number is still climbing. You can also see on google homepage, Youtube videos and many stores encourage people to stay at home and wear a mask to help stop the coronavirus. On 4/24/2020, approximately 1:20 PM. I came to the doorman of MP10 to pickup a package after I've done some grocery shopping so I was wearing a mask. 'Hi, can I please pick up a package. Apartment 10J please, thank you.' He said he couldn't hear me I had to raise my voice, which is totally fine. So I raised my voice and repeated myself. But please note that there's a fine line between yelling at people and making yourself clear to people, also I'm a Asian female so I don't have a penetrating voice. The doorman shoved me a package that labeled 8J. Then I said 'Excuse me sir, thank you but this is not mine, my is Apartment 10J, please' Then the most confusing and inappropriate thing happened: He started yelling at me'I ------- said I couldn't hear you, why wouldn't you raised your voice?' - which is funny if he didn't hear me, why would he know my apt number has a J in it? Then he said 'You just can't TAKE YOUR MASK OFF? What are you hiding from behind that glass(the management installed a separation glass for the reception, which is nice)? YOU ARE BEHIND THAT ------- GLASS, JUST TAKE YOUR MASK OFF and OPEN YOUR FREAKING MOUTH. If you don't know how to, YOU GET THE ---- OUT OF HERE'. I was shocked, then I explained to him. First of all everyone is wearing a mask these days, it's not against a certain individual and it's encouraged by CDC and the government. Moreover, wearing a mask is mutual protection, it's actually me being responsible for myself and everyone around me. It's no way of me showing any sign of disrespect. More shocking things happened, he rolled his eyes, and continued yelling'' You are being nasty now. IF YOU DON'T TAKE YOUR MASK OFF and properly talk to me. I will not give you your package. You will have to come back. GET OUT OF MY FACE.' Then I asked 'Why should I come back for packages when it's here please?' His answer was mostly belittling and ruder 'Because I CAN. I CAN MAKE YOU COME BACK AS MANY TIMES AS I WANNA. YOU ------- CHINESE -----. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO TAKE YOUR MASK OFF AND HOW TO SPEAK, YOU RUDE -----.' I was completely shocked and couldn't believe what happened right in front of me. I was saying please and thank you the entire time so this is a CORONAVIRUS HATE CRIME and CHINESE/ASIAN HATE CRIME, which I couldn't believe happened in the New York City. It's just unbelievable that with so many places denied service or entry unless you wear a mask. With so countless people losing their lives, their families. With all these nurses and doctors working with the risk of their life to protect us from COVID-19. This building, this place I live and walk by every single day would ask me to take my mask off. This is not tolerable and inhumane. Also he was waving his hands, I believe he has every intention to assault me if there was no surveillance camera. I've never interacted with this doorman in person before so this is not a personal thing. I left a voice message at the leasing office and so far haven't heard back. At the moment, that doorman is still sitting in the lounge of MP10. If any one knows his name, please reach out. I personally would like to file a complaint to the City and the government. If you have any resources, please reach out. I can be reached at . I hope the management will look into this. Thank you.

Please, do yourself a favor and DO NOT rent from this terrible company. They are unethical and are making money stealing security deposits from tenants. I moved out of this complex in September of 2019. My apartment was in perfect shape on move-out, and they never provided me with the legally required documentation of damages in order to retain my deposit (this must be provided within two weeks of move-out in NYC or else landlords may not retain your deposit by law). I called them repeatedly asking for return of my security deposit, and they continually made up excuses and evaded. Eventually, I stopped being able to get through to anyone on the phone. Every time I would call, the only person who could help me with the issue was magically out of the office, and he would never return my calls. I took them to small claims court and won last week. I have read other reviews also stating that this company has stolen security deposits from former tenants. Do not get involved with them. If you already did get involved with them--take them to small claims! It was a daunting task, but know that you DO have rights and you WILL win if you bring appropriate documentation with you to court (your lease terms, evidence that you contacted them multiple times for return of deposit).

We live in 30 River Road on the 20the floor and absolutely love it. The apartment and facilities were just redone and are excellent, but what makes the place really wonderful is the staff. They are all wonderful people from the front desk, maintenance, property management, the leasing office - everyone we have met has been so kind and genuinely helpful. I love that I can see the water practically everywhere and that the grounds are so well kept. I love that the parking garage and supermarket is right across the street and everything I need is either nearby or delivers. I love that the city is so close but the island is so peaceful. I have even found the commuting options quite good, and I especially love the ferry - it is a great way to travel.

Great apartment with amazing views. But I am struggling to get my deposit returned. I left end of feb and it is now August. Would appreciate hearing name of a good lawyer to work for me on this. It's a pity as the rest of my experience was positive.
