sadly, this isn't a good place to rent. The landlords make for an unbearably hostile environment and the neighborhood is dangerous. I was assaulted and followed by one of the mainstay vagrants and loitering is abundant. The unit is severely not worth the price- a yr ago, it was $1900 but today it's $2200. There's a pest problem in the apt; the construction is cheap, so you hear everything thru the walls and you smell everything your neighbor cooks thru the vents; landlord's barking dog will keep you up all night and the neighbor's free range cat will greet you in the hallway when you come home from work; appliances always require repair; and good luck getting hot water outside of awkward hours (ie it only works late at night). Back to the landlords- they are the most dishonest, diabolical ppl I've ever encountered. Verbal agreements are never honored (so get EVERYTHING in writing); keep every email b/c they will deny certain permissions were granted; be prepared to have your sec deposit held hostage and when you finally get it back, there will be illegal & fabricated deductions- the attached picture is the "damage" (tiny nail hole) that landlord deducted from damage deposit; privacy won't be respected- "inspection" entries to your unit will occur while you're away w/o your consent or approval. i've often received emails IMMEDIATELY after leaving out, with a comment about how I handled the front door, which indicates that the landlord was monitoring my movement. strange!; Threat of eviction will occur if you're a few DAYS late paying rent. You've got many other instances of underhanded behavior, but it's too much to list. The only good thing about this property is the wide front door, making it easy to move your things out at lease end.
