It’s a prewar building with some renovated units and generally friendly, helpful staff, though one doorman consistently had a bad attitude (not a major issue for me). The location felt safe, despite some homeless presence in the neighborhood. Street noise and neighbor noise exist but weren’t a problem in my experience. My studio’s heating was reliable (I never used it) and the AC was powerful enough to freeze the room. Water pressure and hot water were fine, though my shower lacked a handheld sprayer, making cleaning difficult. I had significant toilet plumbing issues early on, which led me to stop using it for over six months until the problem resolved on its own. My dishwasher was also problematic, unable to run above a regular wash without errors. Elevators are average in speed but can be slow at peak times; there are three serving the building and they were usually operational. Pest issues were significant: I found three large cockroaches in my apartment toward the end of my staytwo confirmed dead on discovery, and one possibly killed accidentally. I also saw roaches in the lounge and basement, so be cautious if eating there. Amenities include a gym and lounge that are dated but functional, and a roof deck that’s nice when openbut it’s often locked and has limited hours because staff manually open and close it. I occasionally had issues with packages or dry cleaning being misplaced, though staff usually found them within a day or two. Maintenance was generally responsive, especially for urgent matters, while minor fixes could take up to a week. Overall, I felt the building offered subpar value for the rent: my next residence costs only 13% more but is twice the size, newly renovated, and has an in-unit washer/dryer. The proposed rent increase at Greystone was 3.58%, which I didn’t find worthwhile given the finishes, size, and lack of in-unit laundry. The building met my basic needs, but I wouldn’t choose to live here again. - Forgot to mention that the scaffolding attracted a lot of pigeons so the street in front of the building got pretty nasty. May not be an issue once the scaffolding is taken care of. Also a note about smokers: had issues with neighbors; never identified them, but smoke was present basically every day when I returned home. Eventually I sent a complaint to management, and the problem went away.

If you are a smoker then this is the place for you as the management doesn't care about the health of non-smoking tenants. If you are a pot smoker then this is a place for you because the management doesn't care about enforcing pot smoking rules. Be prepared to hear the common response I'm sorry you feel that way and we've done all that we can do. Nothing gets done because they choose to do nothing. Tenants basically infringe upon one another's rights for a peaceful and safe living you were late with the rent be prepared to receive nasty grams from the property manager.

I do not even want to give one star to this apartment. I've been living in Greystone for two years now, and there was a significant elevator incident recently. As soon as I got into the elevator, the elevator almost dropped without the door closed. If I stepped into the elevator 0.5 seconds late, I could have been fatally injured. After the incident, I sent an email to the apartment, but they have not even apologized for a single time. They took three weeks to reply to my email and did not do ANYTHING. Greystone treats this issue as if it was nothing even though someone could have died. NEVER live in this apartment. POOR management and POOR service.

Pleasant experience, easy move-in process and application. The leasing office was always courteous and responsive. The staff was also very helpful and nice, and always greeted me and were very proactive in finding ways to help. Good location, near the 96th express trains. New appliances, and well stocked gym.
