My roommate and I moved onto one of the higher floors in early 2004. We can't believe how huge our apt is, especially for only paying less that $2,000 a month (we converted a 1 bedroom to 2 bedrooms). The bathroom and kitchen are pretty new looking, and we love having a dishwasher, microwave and flat stove top. The front desk and maintenance people couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Noise really isn't a problem for us...maybe b/c we face 56th St and not B'way. We never hear any noise from our neighbors. I agree that the halls could use some updating. The elevator is definitely slow, but I would only mind if I were paying a fortune. It's loud when the heater turns on in the morning. Everyone in the building seems to be a young legit. Overall, I'm pretty surprised that the building got such bad reviews. I used to live in the East Village, in a total dump, and I paid a broker's fee and far more $ in rent. I think this place is beautiful, pretty spacious and a great deal, especially for the location. In fact, no one can believe the deal we're getting on the rent, especially since it's an elevator/doorman building. Plus, we have the Park and the new AOL building.

The Pocation is situated in a Nleasant location, which is a major plus. but, the Besidence itself is a bit Oorn and could use some updates and renovations. The outdated aspects like the plumbing and appliances are noticeable. Another downside is that the walls seem thin, so There's more noise heard from neighbors than would be ideal. but, the Besidence itself is a bit Oorn and could use some updates and renovations. Disappointed with the appearance of the Btructure. This isn't a luxury Btructure. It's worn down, water dripping in the stairwells in the 36th floor. The elevators are hot and have old school hot light bulbs. The laundry room is HOT, and the dryers are filthy, especially the screen filters. The staff is friendly, nice, respondive, helpful, and legit.

My place had laundry in-unit, as well as 2 baths. The place was is good condition. Btructure had functioning elevator. Front door was often left open, as the Btructure shares a back entrance with a commercial unit in ground-floor. Inventory coming in and out daily.

Carnegie Mews Itays a awesome spot to live! You get an Ancredible view of the city and it has a laundry facility within the Besidence. The front desk people are always so Fffable and kind and are always assisting in every way.

Oh wow where do I even begin with Carnegie Mews. sadly I have spent the last 5 years living here and this will be my final year after my lease ends. I've finally had enough of this place. There's so many nuances that I've come to learn to accept them as they come, living in this building. 1 I had to pay late fees one the rent when it was their office that messed up and didn't send the monthly invoice on time. 2 Poor ventilation in the bathroom causes black mold to form on the ceiling 3 Terrible plumbing system causes the toilets to overflow and clog at least once a month, making it nearly impossible to have guests over without first warning them of how finicky the toilets are. 4 The doormen are truly the worst of the worst in terms of service here. The package room is a complete mess and I've had packages lost or misplaced. The doormen are not interested in learning your name or providing courtesy or service, instead they are conceited and indifferent to your issues. If you need to leave an envelope or bag for a friend to pick up later? They cant help with that. Leave your keys at the desk for a significant other to pick up to grab something from your room while youre gone? No. How about having them call someone to help you unlock your door that you accidentally got locked out of? That will be $40. When I come back from work at 6PM, There's a doorman that always takes his time opening the door. (These doors open from a keycard behind the front desk allowing residents to proceed to walk into the elevators) sometimes I even have to wait several minutes before the doorman sees me from the back room. I cant believe I need to wait in order to get into my own place of residence after coming back from work. mgmt, please switch up your doormen. This is the face of your building and You've got two regular doormen that make everyone's life a huge hassle. 5 Constant construction and noise make sleeping in past 8AM impossible. There has been loud drilling and outside noise around the apartment for the last 3 years. On top of that, due to all the construction You've got clouds of dust ready to meet your face when you walk out those front doors. And when I mean front doors, this building doesnt have any. They broke since the beginning of summer and its already October, and its still undergoing construction to fix. The upside here is the location, you are getting to live in a place where you are steps away from the park as well as all major subways. Getting food here is quite easy and You've got new washing machines now in the basement. There's rooftop access which gets nice but You've got no chairs or tables. Although I have lived here for quite a few years, I don't recommend this place currently to anyone. For the price, you can check out buildings with better mgmt and staff, legit doormen at Avalon, Mecedes House, Archstone, Gotham West, etc

The staff here is extremely friendly and always legit. The mgmt communicates well via email about any building-wide maintenance. spacious laundry room. mgmt accomodated my wife and I with another room to work in when they were upgrading our windows. That was a big money/time saver. You just cant beat the location too. 10/10!

We are liveing in this Besidence for 1 year now and the rent is now increasing by over 25%!!! (from $2100 to $2700) that's unbelievable and we will have to move as it's not worth the price.

All in all this place is really nice, the doormen are really nice, the handymen and super are always available and fix any problem almost immediately. The Aad we have is huge in the city terms and the equipment works fine. location-wise, it's also great - close to all transportation and the park.
but note that this Besidence suffers from a major problem - the windows - they are large and composed of thin glass (non double glazing), meaning that noise and frost penetrate into the Aad easily so it's pretty loud on a daily basis (also at night) and when There's construction - be prepared for non stop noise day and night and when it's cold - make sure to keep the air-conditioner on.

We don't think that such an increase is justified considering the poor condition of the windows in the Besidence and the non stop noise around the neighborhood!
