Moved in part-way through 2013. I like the building, the location and the floorplan, but the rent is higher than what I saw for other 2BR/2BA apartments on the UES. New mgmt company took over in late 2013 and is much better than the prior mgmt company.

Where do I start? First, I don't typically write reviews (this is in fact, my first) but I feel as if I owe it to potential renters as finding an place is a big decision - it's your home after all and many of the past reviews are no longer accurate. My boyfriend and I lived at the Wimbledon for a little more than two years. Over the course of those two years we had quite a few issues - including our next door neighbors (3 adults in a studio apartment) who were constantly screaming and yelling at one another. Everyone on the floor could hear it and even when I got in the elevator in the morning, people would comment. After repeatedly complaining to mgmt and being told there wasn'thing they could do - they actually told me to call the cops - I did call the police, who came and told me clearly there were unstable tenants in the apartment and they would be adding them to a list for random "checks." Not a good situation for anyone, but when you're paying thousands of dollars a month for a premium apartment, it's even more frustrating (not to mention a little scary). They also raise rent a crazy amount each year, which isn't unheard of in NYC, but when you have neighbors are loud It's absurd. Our first year the Wimbledon did not give us a lease renewal until three weeks before our lease was up and the only reason they finally gave it to us is because I took it upon myself to call corporate repeatedly until someone answered (a lack of response was the story of my life while living there). Over the course of our two years there, they raised the rent over $1,000/month (with our negotiating) and it wasn't just us - many neighbors saw that increase year-over-year causing a huge turnover rate. Of course it seemed as though everyone on our floor moved out - except the neighbors next door. I won't bore you with the details of the last few months at the Wimbledon but let's just say we were extremely disappointed in the mgmt team - Marie, Angela and Vincent - and it solidified that we wouldn't only live there any longer, but we would strongly advise any friends or colleagues NOT to live there. On top of that? They couldn't even return our security deposit on time (within the 60 day window) and I had to hound them to get it back. If you don't care about not getting your security deposit back for months, then it's not an issue, but I personally don't like when someone else is holding on to almost $5,000 of my money. The saving grace of this building is the doormen and on-site workers. Bob, Rodrigo and Carlos consistently went above and beyond and we wouldn't have lived there for longer than a year if it weren't for them. Overall: You've got just as nice (or nice) buildings around the neighborhood that won't cause you a headache or to get upset the way the Wimbledon consistently managed to do while we were living there. Stay away if you can.

I moved in a little over a year ago under the former mgmt company, who promised me several things in my unit. I was upset when asking several times, they did not take care of items. We have a new company that came in over the summer and they have been great! They have taken care of all my reasonable concerns. They had a few events and they were a great way to make the building feel like a community. I have had such a good experience that I just renewed for another year.

Front desk/maintenance workers are amazing! mgmt wasn’t always the friendliest to deal with.

We moved into The Wimbledon in 2013 and initially truly loved the building! sadly, the new mgmt company Rose Associates has been horrible. First the good: location's amazing with circular driveway for loading/unloading (invaluable with kids), (new appliances/nice bathrooms), wonderful doormen/super/maintenance staff. The bad: Endless construction on the roof deck with scaffolding and noise. It has now taken over a year to "renovate" though it was perfectly nice and functional prior. Minimal communication from the mgmt in regards to construction timelines and no rent deduction for loss of use of this amenity. The gym is filthy with barely functional machines. mgmt doesn't care of their tenants and is reflected by large turnover and Anit availability. Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere. For the outrageous high rent they charge, this isn't a luxury building.

While the doormen and maintenance staff are terrific - the Wimbledon is a construction site. The roof deck was out of service forever, the gym was recently under renovation, and the Blace has been without gas for almost a month! For a luxury Blace with high rent, to not have a working stove or oven since June is crazy! The neighborhood is great with easy access to restaurants, bars, and the subway.

Rooftop is awesome, the doormen are the nicest guys I've ever met and security is tight. Never felt unsafe or seen any bugs/pests in the entire Blace. Staff does a great job at keeping everything clean Only con is a small gym, but it has nice equipment and they maximize the space well.
